Description

Paragliding, known in some countries as parapenting, is a recreational and competitive wind sport that is best described as a hybrid of hang gliding and parachuting. A paraglider is free-flying, unlike parasailing, which is generally a passive amusement ride rather than an active spot.

"DON'T FALL INTO A PARAGLIDING CLASS TRAP!! You could loose thousands of dollars picking the wrong instructor, best advice is to come to the chosen flying site and take a first free class so you can get to know your instructor and make the right decision.I often get complaints from people that made the wrong decision and lost thousandsand ended up buying the wrong equipmentthat could get you into trouble, help yourself to avoid corrupt instructors livingthe trailer life and are selling packages and ratingsabandoning you at P2 level the most criticalpart of your learning experience.message from the owner of Atmosphere Paragliding"

I had three years experience before but signing up for instruction with Marciello is a game changer. I didn’t know what I was missing before. Teaching me cross country flying on the safest wing I didn’t know was possible. Best decision ever.
Super glad I ended up taking lessons from Marcello at Andy Jackson. Good teaching of the mechanics of flying a paraglider but maybe more importantly his extensive knowledge of weather patterns and how to use this knowledge to stay safe and get the most out of flying! Also love the community of students and pilots that Atmosphere has.
Marcello is a legend and a great teacher. He’s attentive and patient with all his students. Life changing experience, would give 6 stars if I could.
Marcello is a fabulous instructor. From the training hill to advanced pilot - P4 he is with you and coaching you all the way. There's so much to learn - weather, skills and decision making. Keeping it fun and advancing! I'm very grateful.
Atmosphere Paragliding is a fantastic paragliding school led by the legendary Marcello DeBarros. I have known Marcello for a several years now and have watched him teach and received occasional instruction from him. He definitely knows his craft!! Everything he has taught me was well explained and completely worked. I have definitely progressed from his help. What I really like is that Marcello readily helps you reach your goals. He pushes, but if you are not ready, we will pause until you are. So many instructors out there are doom-and-gloom, not Marcello. He shares the joy and the possibilities of paragliding in a positive, uplifting way. Atmosphere Paragliding also arranges the most amazing paragliding adventures! I have gone to Utah, Hawaii, and Mexico with Marcello’s team, and we had the most amazing times. I have become fast friends with Marcello and many of his students, and I can’t wait for more learning and adventures to come!
My friend is pro pilot, he told me if you wanna learn to fly safely and save money just go to the Atmosphere paragliding school, so I went there. It was great experience and I flew solo after 2 sessions. Marcello is nice and honest instructor. I like how he teach me.
Marcello and his team make learning this sport fun. Safety is always first priority. He’s not the drill Sergeant type. But he will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone. In other words, helping you reach your full potential. His teaching methods are mostly hands on, with on- the-spot theory lessons. I enjoy asking technical questions and it’s hard to stump him. Marcello’s been in the sport since the beginning and keeps up on the current technology, safety and sciences of paragliding. Someone recommended him to me. Now I’m recommending him to you. Hope to see you in the sky. -Mike V. Student
I will be forever in Marcello's debt.. He taught me to fly a paraglider safely and introduced me to a sport and to a group of people that have brought ineffable joy to my life. If you're considering learning to fly, just take a drive to the hill and meet him - you might get to play with a glider on the spot. The best instructors charge a one time fee for limitless instruction, which allows novice pilots to proceed at their own pace. Marcello is at the training hill practically every day. He didn't charge me for my first lessons, and he STILL dispenses instruction without charge many years after I gained certification. If you want the most experienced instructor around, someone with a real knack for teaching, a real gentleman who genuinely enjoys what he does, then you want Marcello at Atmosphere Paragliding. It's easy to see that he is in this business for the love of people and the sky, not for money or fame. You will be a better pilot for it.
I can't believe it took me so long to write a review for my esteemed paragliding coach, mentor not limited to flying! and friend, Marcello. I learned to fly with Marcello when I was a wee 21-year old attending university nearby. From my first kiting lesson at AJX to now, I would trust him with my life. Marcello is the most attentive and engaging instructor one could ask for. He is an absolute expert in the sport and it'll show if you ever see him kite or fly. Getting lessons with Marcello is a pay-once-for-lifetime ordeal. If you want to become a competitive P5 pilot, he'll guide you there. If you just want to get your P2 and cruise for a couple years, he'll be there. There's no pressure to rush through any certification, which allows you to hone your skills at a comfortable pace. I haven't found a single other instructor which uses this model probably because it isn't as profitable, but it is by far the safest and most customize-able way to learn. Marcello is in this business for the love of the sport and it shows. He's taken me on flying trips to Mexico, Sequoia, and I hope to join him one day in Brazil. Outside of his flying expertise, he is a genuinely hilarious person to be around. It's impossible not to feel at ease in his company. I've now been flying for almost 4 years at sites in the US, Mexico, Canada, Argentina, and Australia. Without Marcello's guidance I would never have built up the confidence and skills to enjoy this amazing sport.
