LOCAL CULTURAL COUNCILS
The Local Cultural Council Program (LCC) is a grassroots complement to the MCC’s centralized grant programs. Allocations are made to all of Massachusetts' 351 cities and towns to support community cultural activities. The LCC Program is the most extensive system of its kind in the nation to support the arts.
LCC volunteers represent a cross-section of their communities; they are parents, teachers, business people, artists, lawyers and homemakers. In each community they review applications from individuals, schools, and organizations to fund concerts, performances, lectures, workshops and community celebrations. LCCs also accept and review applications for a ticket subsidy program, called the Field Trip Program, to fund field trips for groups and after school programs.
While the most important grant work starts in the Fall when the grant cycle begins and continues through early Winter when the final award notices are sent to grant recipients, there are ways to participate during the rest of the year by attending the programs and events funded by Attleboro Cultural Council (ACC) grants; maintaining the ACC website; participating in our annual reception for grant recipients; developing additional fundraising efforts and generally being an advocate for the cultural community in the area.
The ACC meets on the 4th Monday of each month from September through May at the Attleboro Public Library. Meeting notices will appear in The Sun Chronicle and via other local media outlets. The meetings are open and the public is invited to attend.
The Attleboro Cultural Council is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
