Loves the place and the story behind it. Happen to pick up a small bar at the Laura Ingalls museum and loved it so decided to stop in. You can try samples of all the chocolate which is wonderful. Definitely some unique pairing and the gentleman helping us was so kind and appreciate that he told us which ones were his favorites!
I had Violet Spence as my cashier and she was amazing. She really helped me find the perfect chocolate bar for me. Amazing customer service. So thankful to have gotten her. She was a tremendous help. Definitely recommend!
What a treat! If you could capture the smell when video recording - I would have! We sampled some great chocolate and found many new favorites. The staff was so kind and helpful. Thanks!
Came across this chocolate store by the smell of chocolate they were making when I was walking by. When I came in I was greeted by a very wonderful and friendly employee. When I couldn't decide what to try or get the girl behind the counter was so helpful in offering me samples of whatever chocolate I wanted to try of all the chocolate bars they had. Since I love dark chocolate I tried the 72% dark chocolate and the 65% with cocoa nibs . When I took a bite of both samples, it was the best dark chocolate I have ever had in my life. Better than any store bought plus it was made from scratch which is what makes it even better. I will be coming back for sure. If you are ever in the midtown area, please visit this store, you won't be disappointed. I promise.
I learned about this brand after reading a new comprehensive book about chocolate and the chocolate industry. I wanted to try Askinosie because described their cocoa process one of the most socially conscious and equitable. It has since become my absolute favorite brand of chocolate! My husband and I love to buy different brands of dark chocolate wherever we travel, but now they're all novelties next to our daily intake of Askinosie. We love the raspberry dark chocolate best, and we'll never be able to continue living if they discontinue this flavor!
“It’s not about the chocolate. It’s about the chocolate.“ That adage, often recited by the 20 or so employees of what is quite likely the first bean-to-bar chocolatier in the country, attests to the values that are anything but small in impact. The small-batch manufacturer was selected as one of the top 25 small businesses in America, according to Forbes. Proceeds from regular facility tours and other endeavors support Chocolate University, an initiative to support communities from C-Street and beyond. The direct-trade model works intimately with farmers across the globe and profit-shares annually to provide them with living wages. The product quality goes beyond only the cocoa. The chocolate contains absolutely no soy lecithin. Most ingredients come from vendors with organic practices, if not outright labeled as such, and meticulous attention is given to provide transparency about product sources. Whether visiting the company firsthand, buying products from another retailer, or enjoying them as ingredients, Askinosie is sure to delight.
Wonderful local experience. If you're in town visiting, a great place to enjoy samples of excellent housemade chocolate.
I sent one of the tasting boxes and some extra chocolate bars to a friend for her birthday. She loved it! I loved the super fast shipping and great communication about the delivery. Only disappointment was I had a 10% off code for signing up for their newsletter, but their cart would not let me use it. Said code not available.
Amazing chocolate factory and shop on Historic C-Street! Delicious chocolate bars I've had all of them and love that they're sustainably sourced directly from the farmers themselves! My favorites are the Coconut Milk Bar and the Dark Chocolate Orange one!
Tour was very fun and informative and then I bought a lot of chocolate. Is a dark chocolate lover's dream.
