I was in on 7/18 for a severely dislocated ankle. Best medical experience I have ever had. The nurses were amazing. Very personable. The radiologist were on the spot. Moving a dislocated ankle is painful but the were so gentle. The er doctor that reset the dislocation was thorough. He explained every step. Even the nurse that wheeled me out was very attentive. Thankful for all the care I received. Keep up the good work
At the er 330am the parking lots empty nurses setting around nurse stations just having a good old time laughing playing in the empty rooms and on walkers all talking about going home early and we been setting here for over 30 mins and not one has came in to even see why we are here
I was seen immediately and sent to a room. Nurse was kind, efficient and competent. Doctor was excellent in her evaluation and recommendations. I am retired MD and have worked in ERs
LESS THAN A STAR. WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE IN EXCRUCIATING PAINBACK WAS PARALYZED AND WAS TREATED BY SQUAD WITH MEDICATION IN ORDER TO RELIEVE ENOUGH TO BE TRANSPORTED TO ER. ONCE THERE WAS TRANSFERRED INTO A WHEELCHAIR AND TAKEN TO LOBBY TO WAIT ANOTHER HOUR AND HALF STILL IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN. ONCE TAKEN BACK TO ROOM, STILL IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN HOPING THAT SOMEONE WOULD SOON CHECK ON ME, ONLY TO HAVE TO PUSH THE CALL BUTTON TO BE TOLD "I CANT HEAR YOU" AND CLICK, GONE. I WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES STILL IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN AND TRIED AGAIN....."I CANT HEAR YOU" CLICK AND GONE. STUPID ME THINKING THAT SOMEONE WOULD SURELY WALK DOWN HERE AND CHECK TO SEE WHY SOMEONE WAS PUSHING THE CALL BELL AND NOTHING! I CALLED AGAIN, SOMEONE ANSWERED AND STATED I CANT HEAR YOU, BUT I WILL WALK DOWN. ONCE THERE SHE LISTENED PATIENTLY AS I TRIED TO TELL HER HOW MANY HOURS AT THIS POINT I HAD BEEN HAVING THIS ACUTE HORRIBLE SHOOTING PAINS IN MY BACK, SHE GRACIOUSLY TOLD ME THAT THE ER DOCTOR THAT WAS THERE WAS AT HIS PATIENT RATIO AND ANOTHER DOCTOR WOULD NOT BE IN UNTIL AFTER 11:30 PM!!!! HOW IS THIS CONSIDERED AN EMERGENCY ROOM? WAS IT BECAUSE I HAD NO VISUAL SIGNS OF BLOOD AND OR A LIMB THAT WAS HANGING OFF? I WAS IN THE WORST PAIN I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE! WAS IT A SPASM? A SLIPPED DISC PINCHING ON A NERVE? A KIDNEY STONE? AFTER WAITING FOR A CT SCAN, WITHIN 20 MINUTES THEY HAD THE RESULTS WHICH DID NOT SHOW IT WAS MY KIDNEYS SO I WAS DISCHARGED OUT. THEY DID NOT SEEK FURTHER, NO XRAYS, NO INFORMATION GIVEN TO ME ABOUT THE VILES OF BLOOD THEY HAD TAKEN, NEVER PEED IN THE CUP LEFT FOR ME DUE TO BEING HOOKED TO IV'S. NEVER ASKED WHAT IS YOUR PAIN LEVEL NOW, WHICH I TOLD THEM WHEN I WENT IN WAS A 125 THEY ONLY GO TO 10, JUST GIVEN SOME PAPERS AT 12PM AND SAID SOME MEDICATION WOULD BE CALLED IN TO THE PHARMACY STILL IN PAIN??? YES I WAS . IT TOOK ME ALMOST 10 MINUTES TO GET IN THE CAR, NEVER ASKED IF I NEEDED ASSISTANCE TO EVEN GET TO THE CAR. I WILL NEVER EVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL AGAIN, AND WILL NOT AND I REPEAT NOT BEING PAYING RED PENNY OR GREEN BILL FOR THIS KIND OF "CATTLE SERVICE" THAT I RECEIVED. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD TO ENDURE. AMC HAS LOST ALL OF MY RESPECT AS I ONCE SPOKE HIGHLY OF THIS HOSPITAL.
Zero stars deserved. Terrible experience! I will be filing a formal complaint. This ED needs some serious training in mental illness and disability, specifically in bias and stereotypes. It is shameful how they treated my daughter who happens to have severe mental illness. Four visits in two weeks for serious falls caused by convulsions. They said she was a “hell of an actress,” and discharge records said that her mom me said she was doing these things for attention. I never said this. Doctor misdiagnosed her rash as scabies because she lives in a group home bias even though the cardinal symptoms were missing—location and intense itching. She had no itching. When a skin test was requested, the ER doctor said that in 30 years of doing this, he’d never heard of such a test. A 30-second search on Google proved him wrong. Was he lying or stupid? They did an EEG but told her residence director to stop sending her because the test results showed they were not seizures. After three more falls the next day, I took her to UVA and have discovered the following mistakes made at Augusta ED. 1Not scabies, 2The same EEGs that they said showed it wasn’t seizures, when evaluated by competent staff, actually showed that there were definite signs of seizure activity. 24 hours later, she has had extensive testing and all of her symptoms are being taken very seriously. She is being treated respectfully and like the real person that she is. Night and day difference. Avoid Augusta Emergency if you want to be treated like a person. Very unprofessional.
My fiance has been horribly sick from a virus. He was seen here today and has been very well taken care of. I have zero complaints.
Probably the WORST emergency room experience i’ve ever had. With the exception of my physician, she was wonderful. I was having an anaphylactic reaction. It took my husband less time to drive to the hospital than it did for registration to notice us and get our information. After this, they took me back to a room what seemed like very quickly- wrong. They got me mixed up with a patient and were going to try to take me back out to the waiting room. I refused do to the fact that I was having an ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION. that did not seem to be a concern of theirs. my nurse was RUDE, VERY pushy- wouldn’t let me finish my sentences, interrupting me. She also clearly was not keeping track of her rooms because my doctor had seen me and been gone for a good 15 minutes when i pressed the call bell for more medicine and water- before my sentence left my mouth the nurse was shutting the door telling me i had to see the doctor first when that had already happened NOW 20 minutes ago. HORRIBLE PATIENT CARE DONE BY NURSING AND INTAKE STAFF. Dying or not I will never return to this god awful hospital. they sure know how to live up to a reputation.
Had to get swabbed for strep and COVID and I told them that I couldn't do it because of my anxiety and the woman act like she didn't care and was telling me that there's only one way to take a covid test which is false you can do it either nose or mouth. they are very uneducated and they don't care about their patients all they care about is getting their money.
I went due to Abdominal pain and shortness of breath. Everyone from the front desk all the way down to the nurses and doctors were all reassuring and nice. I ended up finding out I’m pregnant and my baby was moving and heart beating and it was so emotional. Traci was the nurse who was with me and she was such a great person and very thoughtful on my situation. They checked me and the baby and I was discharged. Btw that hospital was so clean!!!!! Definitely would recommend.
Wife was just got to the ER with possible ruptured appendix and have been sitting in the er waiting room for the past half hour... I sorry but isn't that a life or death situation, it's not a cold or broken arm, it's a possible ruptured appendix, the waiting staff is hit or miss on understanding the situation as well
