The ATMA brings the visual arts to the heart of the Augustana experience, to provoke curiosity, inquiry and collaborative learning.
This year, the Augustana College Teaching Museum of Art moves from Guerilla Girls to Greenland, and will offer music and video performances, plus senior student artists and invited faculty.
Kicking off the exhibition season, the fall theme is “30 years of Women & Gender Studies at Augustana College.” It includes two exhibits: “A Woman’s Place is in the Gallery: Guerrilla Girls, 1985-2015” and “Camouflage as a Metaphor for Passing. Works by Kiam Marcelo Junio.”
Appropriately enough, the winter term exhibit, “Art above 66° 33' " is collaboration with the Augustana Center for Polar Studies, and features artists whose work is inspired by the polar regions.
In spring term, “Four Artists, Four Visions” will feature the work of artists invited by Augustana art faculty to exhibit. There will be printmaking, ceramics, fibers and drawing. Later in spring, the museum will show work by graduating seniors in studio art and graphic design in the annual Senior Art Exhibition.
