They close at 5! What about the parents that work 8-5pm with a half hour lunch! Not enough time to leave work, pick up my child and bring them to appointment and everything back. Later evening appointments were a godsend for single parents. Blaming “covid” when it’s over. Looking for a new pediatric clinic with more flexible hours for single parents.
Parents BEWARE, apparently, they cannot treat a child for a UTI in office. My daughter had symptoms of a fever and chills and when I called to follow up with the doctor, the nurse who triaged me told me it was appendicitis and I needed to take my daughter in to the ER. My daughter had complained of intermittent "hip" pain that switched sides from time to time, but this was not of concern to me because when I touched those areas, she was not guarding or shrieking with pain. Instead, I was concerned about the continuous fever/chills and repeatedly asked the nurse to send my message to the doctor because she was aware of my daughter's symptoms from a previous message; the nurse refused. She only listened to ONE symptom and totally ignored the others. I knew my daughter had an ongoing infection due to the extent of the fever/chills, and my daughter previously had a sinus infection. I felt that my daughter needed to be seen and I don't understand why we needed to go to the ER for a CT scan and lab work when all of that could've been done through an office visit. The nurse's response was that my daughter's symptoms could be "emergent" and going to the ER would be easy access to surgery if she had appendicitis - I know this is a lie because even if my daughter was seen in office and the CT showed appendicitis, they could've done a direct admit to the hospital. They REFUSED to give me an appointment and I had to take my daughter in for treatment in order for the infection to be addressed. When we got to the ER, the doctor did not feel it was appendicitis because my daughter had GIGGLED when he put pressure on abdomen/sides, however, he did a CT just to be safe. It showed nothing and everything was normal. Her urine, however, did come back positive for a UTI. When I complained about this to management, Aurora said "they didn't do anything wrong" with their decision. The nurse was "COACHED" but they didn't see anything wrong about anything else. Obviously, management didn't take this seriously. So beware parents, you will have to pay a $2k ER bill just for antibiotics because they will refuse you an appointment for GU symptoms and apparently, they cannot treat a UTI in office. I have always been happy with the care I received from Aurora prior to this situation but I am deeply disappointed by how management handled this situation. This truly shows that Aurora is ALL ABOUT MONEY and NOT about adequate patient care. If their priority is really about patient care, they would've realized that their decision to send my daughter to the ER was not appropriate, especially considering that she is Autistic and being seen in "pediatrics" was most appropriate. Aurora, please do better.
We have always had great experiences with all the Pediatric Doctors. Dr. Opel is our primary care and she is awesome!
They don’t know how to answer the damn phone and hangs up often!
