It is the mission of the Aurora Fossil Museum Foundation, Inc. to educate visitors about geology, paleontology, and prehistory in an engaging and enjoyable manner with special emphasis on the natural resources of coastal North Carolina. Staff and volunteers utilizing on-site exhibits as well as collaborative projects with academic, scientific, and amateur individuals and organizations will accomplish this. The Museum Foundation, a 501 c(3) non-profit organization, will seek funding to help accomplish its goals through solicitation of corporate grants, funding from the State of North Carolina, and donations from both private individuals and the "Special Friends of the Aurora Fossil Museum, Inc." a separate chartered non-profit organization.
