Do not recommend. Heavily agree with others that billing will scam you without remorse. A nurse incorrectly assured me that my doctor would be able to prescribe the med that I needed, but after I scheduled and got to my appointment he said he doesn't fill that med. He clicked a button to refill one of my regular meds which I didn't really need and the whole thing was over within 10 minutes. I got billed several hundred dollars and disputed the bill. Months later after back and forth messages they ultimately forced me to pay in full for an appointment that achieved nothing. They never even confirmed that the nurse was corrected and wouldn't deceive more people... pretty cruddy!!
The app is horrible to deal with when trying to contact your doctor. I finally had to google the phone number for the office of my sons pediatrician. The office was extremely unhelpful. My son has an urgent health concern and I’m trying to get him in to see his pediatrician asap. The doctor does not have regular office hours and they could not advise or help getting ahold of him to see if we could go to a different location. The girl that I spoke with on the phone was rude and had an attitude, which is pretty terrible considering I’m dealing with a sick 12 week old baby.
This clinic is horrible and I only come here if I absolutely have to BUT Heaven in the lab is amazing. She is the best lab person I’ve dealt with at Aurora. When I arrived at the lab, she told me the orders I came for had expired I was not told this during scheduling. She explained what the issue was, instructed me to call and have them reordered, and waited with me until they were active again in the system. She explained why two of the labs couldn’t be drawn at the time and was skilled with her blood draw. She communicated, was respectful, was willing to offer help, and was very skilled. More Aurora employees need to be like her.
Billing here is a joke. All 3 of my children went here for their pediatrician, but no more. I recently started with a new company, which required that I switch my insurance provider. Bad news, new insurance provider was unfortunately not in-network; but good news, it's good coverage and they will cover standard pediatric visits at 100% out-of-network. So continuing to send my children to Aurora, my son had his 5 yr checkup. Well, Aurora refused to send the claim to the new insurance, because they didn't have a contract with them. Annoyance, but OK, as my wife is really good at handling these, and got both Aurora and new health insurance on a 3 way call to straighten it out. Aurora told new health insurance what was owed, and new health insurance cut a check direct to Aurora. All settled, good to go, right? Fast forward 3 months, and a random bill from Aurora shows up for an additional $346 for that 5 yr check up, huh? They say they had billed it as if we didn't have insurance, and they are now reducing the discount and we now owe another $346, 3 months later, huh? Aurora couldn't have handled that when directly on the phone when the new insurance company was asking you what they owed? Now I've paid an additional $346 that I DO NOT OWE Aurora, but just can't deal with these crooks anymore. New pediatrician, no more problems.
I would like to start out by saying that I loved the doctor I saw at this clinic, Dr Woods. The issue I have is that I went in for a wellness visit, which is 100% covered by my insurance, and received a $370 bill in the mail a week later. After calling Aurora, they sent in a case for this bill to be reviewed. I never hear back from them so I called them again 2 weeks later. I was told that my case was reviewed and that I still owe the bill. The reasoning behind this was because we discussed medication options for antidepressants in my appointment. The doctor went through my medical chart history and when she asked about my history with medication, I had mentioned to her that I was considering going back on them. The person on the phone told me that because I discussed the options for medication, I no longer had a wellness check - it was now a diagnostic visit. This is a complete scam, and if I had known I crossed a very thin line of wellness to diagnostic, I would have never discussed my medication history or options for antidepressants. The woman on the phone told me that it is the patient's responsibility to understand what is covered in a wellness check and that even if the doctor initiates the conversation about medication it is up to me to say "I refuse to discuss this with you today." if I did not want to be charged. After talking to many others and reading reviews, I am finding that this is a common problem and that Aurora is taking advantage of their patients and scamming them by initiating diagnostic actions during wellness visits.
I have been coming here silver spring for three years and while the doctors in Aurora generally seem to get shuffled to other locations or providers, I have no complaints about this location, never a huge crowd and called on time. Initial visits with MDs can take a while as all their current patients have priority. But once you get past that first visit things get scheduled quickly. Everyone has always been polite and professional and the lab people always get me on a first stick and I'm a tough customer. Now the lab on Good Hope almost always full and behind schedule. This one is timely and not crowded.
I have been going to the Silver Spring location for years. My PCP is there but I can never see her she's part-time unless I wait many months. So they get you in to the NP all the time. I haven't seen my PCP in over a year. It's crazy. Only reason I stay is because it's nearby and I refuse to go to the Good Hope location--that's 100 times worse. Also, they have a terrible problem with ordering rx refills. Mass-confusion constantly that has cost me BIG $$ with my mail order service. It doesn't seem too hard to order a 90 supply but they constantly get it wrong. I may just have to go elsewhere. **Update** They still can't seem to keep a regular Dr at this place. The ones they do have are very incompetent. The whole Aurora Health Care system is horrible.
Do NOT go here. This place is a nightmare. I’ve had nurses say they’ll push my medication refill request through under urgent. Days later and nothing at the pharmacy. When I called back a different nurse said the one prior DID NOT SEND THE REQUEST. My pharmacy has even tried calling for requests on my behalf with no luck. I do not recommend this facility or any one here. I’ve gone through withdrawals for an SSRI I’ve taken for 5 years because of THEIR incompetence. I cannot urge you strongly enough to consider a different provider. If your health is a priority, which it should be, then do not use Aurora.
I had been going to this clinic for years and forgave the impossibility in getting an appointment with my doctor, but over the past couple of years I have had very negative experiences that have made me find another clinic. These included experiences at the front desk, such as not submitting urgent paper work and telling me I was not waiting on the phone for as long as I was AND in the exam room, where something that wasn't inflamed and infected became so as a direct result of what the NP did. I feel guilty even posting this, but others should be able to make an informed decision and honestly, the clinic should know.
Unfriendly staff, dismissive and gaslighting doctors despite excuriating pain, even though not looking for pain-meds. Don't go here.
