Beautiful capital building. There are also nice monuments in the surrounding yard. Nice place to see if you’re visiting Austin. Warning: it can get very hot during the summer.
Beautiful place with lots of history! Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helped my husband and I out with any questions we had. We will definitely be back to visit our amazing capitol and would love to bring the rest of the family along! Thank you to all the employees that work there and keeping us safe!
I give the Texas State Capital building in Austin five stars. Texas taxpayers spent a LOT of money on this building, and it turned out so classy. The finest materials were used and it looks like the designers spent thousands of hours getting every little detail perfect. I highly recommend stopping here to see for yourself.
The Texas State Capitol is an impressive building that is steeped in history and is definitely worth a visit. The grand architecture, including the stunning rotunda, will take your breath away. As the seat of the Texas state government, it's where laws are made and passed, and as a visitor, you can witness democracy in action. During a live legislative session, you'll see elected officials actively debating and discussing important issues that affect the state and its citizens. It's a unique opportunity to witness the inner workings of government and gain insight into how laws are made. The Texas State Capitol is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in politics, history, or architecture.
Very nice building. There is a free guide at specific hours but unfortunately because there was a crowd of people joining the tour, we couldn't hear clearly what the guide said. Perhaps using microphone would be a good idea
I highly recommend visiting the Texas State Capitol building in Austin. Built in 1885 by architect Elijah E. Myers, it's an impressive structure and the 6th tallest state capitol building. The surrounding area is adorned with beautiful statues and monuments, perfect for exploration. The capitol tour is free. The sad part is every time I went to visit the Texas capitol building, either it was after hours or the building was closed for renovation or Covid; so I couldn't get the chance to do the capitol tours. Another thing I want to mention is if you want to take pictures standing in front of the capitol building from the front lawn, the building is almost covered with trees, and only the top part is shown from the lawn. Consider photographing from the corners for a full building view. And now since the construction is going on, it is difficult to capture the perfect photo. There's a nearby parking lot offering free parking for 2 hours on weekdays, but be aware of charges on weekends or special events. You can also do street parking. Overall, a must-visit in Austin!
They have free tour every 15 mins to half hour . They have lines to enter but it moves pretty fast , to us it took only 10 mins on Sunday. Parking is on the street or there is parking plaza . Street parking is free on saturday and sunday but its hard to find just keep looking if u r in luck. Nd plaza parking is $20 . You can take good pictures in the capitol
It’s not the first time but I have visited various times during since last decade but this was a quick shoot visit to grab beautiful images and videos as I like to spend some time for social media and specially for Google Review purpose. It’s a very beautiful historical place, I never entered to the building but some day I will do that to see more in detail. Since this was in renovation / repair or update process, I couldn’t get clear building images but the park in fully greenish bloom, really it’s a wonderful experience, I enjoyed with squirrels too. Families sitting in park or taking pictures everyone was enjoying there.
