Created under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Detroit and sponsored by four local parishes (St. Isidore, St. John Vianney, St. Lawrence and St. Therese of Lisieux), Austin Catholic is above all Catholic. Guided by the teachings of St. Augustine and the educational commitment of the Augustinian Order, Austin students both strengthen their faith and prepare for college and beyond. Austin provides a rigorous and well-rounded college preparatory curriculum. Austin promotes a STREAM curriculum that goes beyond math, science and english to provide a comprehensive liberal arts education including theology and visual, performing and applied arts. Austin students also enjoy full technology with a 1:1 iPad program and digital resources.

Characteristics of an Augustinian School
From Augustine’s guidance and the experience of Augustinian educators through the centuries, we define the characteristics of an Augustinian school.
We are one family pursuing God together.
We are relentless in helping one another find the truth.
We respect the inner wisdom which must confirm the truth for each person.
We believe in faith so that we can understand.
We learn to love God by our love for one another.
We measure our love of God by our love for one another.
We acknowledge Jesus as the cause of our community.
We see the ultimate end of our existence as union with one another and union with God in Jesus.
Core Values in Augustinian Education
A value is a thing, quality, abstraction, virtue, etc. that has special meaning for a person or group. In addition to meaning, it also elicits strong self commitment for the person or group. The combination of meaning/self-commitment in value in turn sketches the identity of the person or group.
The beliefs detailed in the Augustinian Philosophy of Education can be distilled and focused in a set of Core Values which should characterize all the members of the Augustinian school family. These fundamental Core Value define the school family.
We have three Core Values:
VERITAS (Truth) – Confident that truth is objective and ultimately grounded in God, we are committed to help one another pursue truth with enthusiasm.
Caritas (Love) – Confident that communion in love with God is the goal of our lives; and sure that we lean and experience God’s love first in other human beings, we strive to be men and women of love.
UNITAS (Unity) – Confident that our Christian relationship of love with others in God makes us one community, we cultivate mutual communion as a means of helping one another pursue truth and deepen our love so as to enjoy ultimate oneness with God, together.
