Originally opened in 1927 as Ave. Hardware and Ventura Refrigeration. Jim Dewire purchased Ave. Hardware in 1943. Continuing the family business, Jay Dewire (Jim's son) ran the hardware store and retired in 1985. Tad Dewire (Jay's son) has worked in the store since 1962 but has worked full-time since 1975. He continues, along with his brother-in-law, Buzz Bafford and long-time employees, Tim Whelan & Sam Rodriquez to carry on the family hardware store.
