If I could give this place negative stars, I would.  They gave me a car that not only was full of cigarette smell, but the engine failed while I was driving it and it was a 2022 car. Roadside assistance said they would send a tow and a ride along service, but they never showed up. They also stopped answering the line for the rest of the night after they initially said they would send the help. I was left stranded in the middle of nowhere and if a police officer wouldn’t have come to help me, I would’ve been stuck on the side of the road all night thanks to Avis being negligent with the care of their automobiles and their emergency roadside assistance.

I rent from Avis all the time and have had great experiences but this West Dundee location is absolutely trash!  The employee was sitting talking on her personal cell phone when I walked in…she did not end her call, I honestly thought she was a customer.  Then she told me that even though I had already paid for my reservation online she had no cars.  I asked her if she could call the next closest location and she said “I guess so”.  I asked her if she could at least help process my refund since she had no cars and she didn’t know how to.  She was absolutely no help, don’t go here.

Prepaid car - been waiting 30 min so far and no one at the desk…office door is open, desk and computers out in open - no one answering the phone ***changing my review*** to 3 stars from one star because, while I did have to wait over 30 min to pick up our car because I wasn't there exactly on time, it really isn't this employee's fault. She was very helpful once she showed up to the counter - she was out in the freezing cold cleaning the returned cars - this site needs to have a better system for when their one staff is having to also clean the cars - and it should be that someone mans the counter and someone ELSE cleans the cars. I felt so bad for her, in the end. She was very courteous when I talked with her the next day to tell her I couldn't return the car because IT BROKE DOWN ON MY TRIP and stuck in the middle of Indiana, Avis said they couldn't get a replacement to me for 4-6 hours and it could be up to 8 hours if I took an Uber to Fort Wayne Indianapolis Airport had none 1.5 hours in the wrong direction and waited for a car there. All the while, my son is at a college interview that I was supposed to attend thanks to the amazing staff at Holiday Inn Express who got him there while I was forced to wait with the car per Avis!. So - I give this site's staff a 5 because she did the best she could with the limited resources Avis gave her, but I give Avis a ZERO and plan to NEVER use them again. Instead, Enterprise in Marion, IN turned around a car in about 30 minutes, had 4 people working the site and were amAZING at customer service - most places have lost that skill since 2020/Covid. Enterprise is my new go-to rental car place - we have used Avis at Springhill Mall for over 10 years - one thing after another. We're done after this last event. In a slight defense for them, I did finally learn over 24 hours later and worried the whole time and being warned that I "abandoned" their vehicle the one that broke down, they are refunding the entire cost of the rental. Well - at least that.

Garbage. I do not believe any of the reviews higher than a 1 star. Why is it that they never have any of the vehicles that were reserved? Do they know what a reservation is? They told us literally last minute to take the only car they had the one we did not reserve and bring it to O'hare  opposite of our travel  and drop it off and find another car there. Essentially, not their problem we do not have a car. If you feel like having a bad day, by all means conduct business here. This is a surefire way to make your blood boil.  The car we ended up with smells like cigarettes and is filthy. Also, there is a reason people reserve certain vehicles. A van would have fit 6 adults with luggage for a week. But the car given to us, doesn't fit anything. Please put your closed sign up indefinitely  and make the community happy.

Great car with great had milage. Clean, drive well. Pick up was easy and drop off also easy. Two different states. I recommend this company.

Different experience every time I’m there, could be 5 minutes or 25!

Worst experience ever! Unbelievable worst customer service! Reserved premier SUV from West Dundee via Costco travel. Confirmed reservation night before pick up. 2 hours before pick up receive call that the vehicle I reserved on May 11 is unavailable. Avis employee in West Dundee Spring hill location unable to locate Suburban or Explorer and made me call the 800 Avis number to have them find one. One is found 45 minutes away and I have to pick it up and I'm charged an extra $500. Opened up case but still pending.  I'm letting everyone that I know NEVER rent from Avis.

Suppose to drop off my car at 11 am and no one came into the office until 11:24. Walked right passed me and then his son asked about the car I was renting.  5 minutes later the wife came in and took over. This place is a joke.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. West Dundee IL location opened 20 minutes late upon picking the car up and returning the car. Avis West Dundee is a waste of time.

Picked up car on a Friday , sign said open at 12. Nobody showed up til 12:15-12:20. Returned car on a Wednesday and of course we had to wait again. If you are going to be late all the time change the sign so customers are not there waiting for you.
