There are a lot of poor reviews of this location. After reading them it appears a lot of people seem to not understand a lot of aspects of renting a car... For my own experience, I went with managers special. I was given an extremely nice car that was large and very comfy to drive. The car was clean and the clerk was very friendly and nice. He explained I had to return it at the same time or I would be charged extra, and to top it up with gas. All in all I would say I had no issues as I knew how the insurance and fees work for a rental. I really appreciate how nice the tall gentleman was I wish I got his name and I'm very appreciated towards the car that was chosen for us. Thanks for making renting a car as painless as possible!
Extremely satisfied with the service i had got from this location in particular. They were be able to squeeze me in during a long weekend and provided a very new and comfortable car. Ver fast check in and check out procedures. Super clean car inside and outside, and very professional and friendly staff. Thanks guys for making renting a car as smooth as it should be! Highly recommended!!
Really demeaning and unacceptable service. I arrived 1/2 early to pick up my rental. I received it over an hour later. It was banged up and dirty inside. Smells of smoke. Then, when I was well on the way to another city, I noticed that the staff neglected to give me my copy of the contract. I called Avis right away. They told me to drive back to collect it. I was not offered it electronically and was not told it was optional to return for the paper copy. When I returned I asked for a refund as I was no longer going to make my destination event on time. I was first told I could have a discount but no refund. Then I was told, actually NO, I wasn’t entitled to a discount because I had pre-paid. Avis is only concerned with customers who haven’t paid yet. I was then told to call the 1-800 number because there was nothing they could do at the location Kanata Edgewater/ Avis/budget . This took 1/2 of hold time and I was told there was nothing they could do because I had prepaid. I now have a rental car I can’t use and don’t want as there is no possible hope of arriving on time. The audio features are also broken. Avis has no inventory, and is charging higher rates than ever for terrible customer service and vehicles in pitiful condition and never ready on time. The one I was given has Texas plates and this is Ontario. Dents and dings on every corner of the vehicle. I hope Avis understands people have schedules and they use rental cars for transportation. It has to be on time. Today you ruined a kids birthday, you broke a mother’s heart and you also lost a customer forever. Hope it was worth it.
We rented a Hyundai venue for a weekend, with a core/basic insurance only covered accident $500 deductable for $170. Friday till Monday. Employees are very good and polite. The paperworks took less than 5 minutes. Everything was smooth.
My experience with the Avis brand and this sales location was awful. The salesperson misled me about general liability insurance, which all car rentals by law must include in their rental price. He insisted that there is no general liability contained unless you purchase it. I have mentioned it three times before I sign the rental agreement. I mentioned that all rental cars must include limited general liability insurance in the rental price. He said there was nothing for free. I said It mentions “damage protection,” which my credit card covers. He insisted, “No.” So this salesperson was so unethical and unprofessional. On the same day, I raised a client case support at Avis with reference number#46179813. The agent on the phone told me I was right, and all cars came with general liability insurance and opened a support ticket. However, a couple of days later, they responded that: “After reviewing our records, it indicates that your rental was charge for Loss Damage Waiver Coverage was contractually agreed, regrettably, we find the charge valid.” I am upset about it. After being a preferred plus member for a couple of years, it's time to cancel and forget Avis forever.
I rented the car from April 16 to April 18 2022. I rented it at 9 AM on Saturday April 16 and returned it on Monday April 18 9 AM. However, the person at the store made a mistake and registed that I returned the car at 4 PM. Therefore, they charged me for one day extra. I even have a proof of my uber trip receipt which I toom from Avis car rental to my home at around 9:15 AM. However, when I called to the store, the guy talked to me very rudely and did not even listen to my problem. He kept on asking me to call on 1800 number of Avis. Now they are asking me to provide other proof apart from Uber car receipt, like return car receipt/ boarding pass/ frequent traveler mileage statements… which I do not have. It was a very bad experience. I already provided them proof of uber trip receipt with time mentioned on it and they are still asking for other proofs which I do not have. The guys at the store should have been helpful as it is their mistake. Please take the receipt when you return the car next time with time and date mentioned on it.
I rented a car for 1 day only, but the agent specially tricked me that I should not give the car the next morning, as he said - I paid for a day and a half and should return the car later. And give me a paper with the exact sum of what I expected to pay. As a result - they charged me 2 times more. I was very unhappy, taking into account the price of the rent, and that I didn't need the car for another day. I clarified that multiple times- and the agent specially tricked me. I can't get through to them - they just don't pick up the phone. I couldn't even imagine that such a large company could engage in such a scam. I didn’t need a car for 2 days, but the agent thought that I could be deceived and made money on me. I do not advise anyone to apply for rent to this company and trust them with access to their credit card. Avis, if you are reading a review and care about your reputation - please contact me, to solve this situation. My reservation number was 09908551-CA-2
IF YOU REALLY NEED A CAR, DONNOT COME HERE! ALL THE SERVICE THEY SAID THEY WILL OFFER ARE LIEING TO YOU. AFTER YOU PAID, EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT. The person there is rude and if you are prepaid and after pay, they will not care about your feeling. The service they offer are just lies. After you paid your fee and if they won't give the service they promised, they won't give your money back, they just say they cannot do it. A guy named Karen with the manager Mohamed Mahdi, they refuse to give me a ride back even if they posted everywhere they will pick you up and drop you off. They just told me "YOU CAN SIT HERE ALL DAY, BUT WE WILL NOT GIVE A RIDE BACK!" This place have NO BUS STOP. I return the car one day early, they refunded me money. So they want me to pay one more day to drive back myself instead of they drop me off. ALL THEY WANT IS TO MAKE MONEY. My home is only 8 minutes drive. They said they will be so busy, they will be very busy, there are lots of ppl coming in in the next 16 minutes. What if my home is half an hour drive, I cannot get back myself. But while I wait here, no customer came, they are only there listening to radios and sometimes get outside to park a car from one spot to another.
Car was dirty in the inside when I picked it up. Windows were dirty and it was hard to see in low sunlight without cleaning them first. With the virus situation you'd think Avis would be more careful on behalf of their customers.
Love renting from this place. The staff is amazing and the cars are always in great condition.
