3 hours before we're going to pick up our car, the Port Charlotte Avis called to say it wasn't available. What they had to substitute was not going to work for our family. I tried calling back to talk to a representative working there and was put on hold after giving my name and situation. After 20 minutes of holding I hung up. This was a prepaid rental never again I have contacted corporate about the lack of customer service. Not just horrible, there is no customer service at this location. Luckily there are other rental companies in the area. No more Avis in PC for us
The local agent went above and beyond because I had to change the return date 2 times and it was no problem.
I gotta be honest. In my lifetime, this was the absolute worst rental experience. The inside of the car was dirty, I had to buy window wipers because they were old, then after I returned the car, and got a receipt of paid in full, zero balance due, the company pulled $1,451 out of my account 2 days later, which resulted in my account being overdrawn. I called Avis waited on hold for 28 minutes, for them to tell me their system was undergoing maintenance, and they couldn't help me. I normally won't leave a bad review, unless its been more then one occasion of bad happenings. I understand this is a economy company, but the way they run it, is bonkers. If you can help it, stay away from Avis.
We have used this location 3 or 4 times for car rental, and everything seemed to go okay. Today, different story. We went to pick up our car, and I announced myself to the person behind the counter, so as to find our reservation. Extremely transactional only. "License and credit card?" No info. A guy that I've seen there before came from the back to work with her on the computer and they were speaking in Spanish. Not sure about what?? I said 'hi, I think you've helped us before" No reaction. Anyway, the car was horrible, bad rear axle or wheel, and rattling tail pipe. I tried to call, forget it, you can't get through. So, up I drove to exchange the car, walked in and said "I think this car has a couple of mechanical problems, I couldn't reach you, and want to exchange it for another" No I'm sorry, no recognition, I mean nothing. Then lots of chatter with the other guy in Spanish, as he was now sitting in the lobby. I asked them what they were talking about, and could they please talk to me? How about an "I'm sorry"? Then the guy says, he doesn't work there....which was obviously a lie, and now I'm getting really frustrated. Obviously they don't care about customers and the word 'service'....they never heard of it. Asked for the owner or a supervisor and all I got was "they're not here". Well, I can't find the owner either....so here's an accurate review from a local for you.
Store seems a little run down, could use a coat of paint , but after hurricane there's no many rental cars available and they had a car ready for me when I needed it.
First off the car was great! Comfortable, clean, road well. I was very happy overall with my trip but... When I picked up the car, the wait was long. There was only one attendant for 5 or so customers. Also, upon return of the vehicle, I asked the person at the counter to review with receipt with me to ensure that the rate was tax exempt, as this was a work related travel and I provided the required documentation. But the attendant wasn't able to answer that question. They suggested I call customer service to check. I thought that was a little odd and not as helpful as I'd like. I called customer service, waited a long time, someone picked up, asked me to hold, and before I knew it I was back in the queue. I waited on hold for a while, but wasn't able to wait another 20+ minutes again. It was an inconvenience and frustrating. Regardless, it was a good trip.
Do not rent from this location!!! This is our quote online... Called to confirm and the quote is over a thousand dollars. I called to see if they would honor the price online as we are getting different quotes every single time we search and on different search engines. And he said nope it's going to be over a thousand. Price gouging and fraudulent web pricing at it's finest!! In reference to your REPLY your PHONE quote was 1092 for 4 DAYS before deposit. Yes I found a wonderful customer friendly location/ company that offered my rental at 1/3 of the cost of yours. Might want to check your reviews of people's experiences at your location and stop price gouging especially in such a vulnerable time. Thank you so much for the reply. Maybe in the future you will honor your prices even with screenshots to your customers as any honest company would do!! Total bait and switch! we reserved a car through the website for 65 a day. showed up 30 minutes later and told that type of vehicle was not available and was forced to pay for a 89 dollar a day vehicle. we had no other choice available.
I went in 5/7/21, Friday morning, I had reserved a car through orbitz and had wanted to rent a car until Tuesday 5/11/21 since I was unsure of how long my car was going to be in the shop. What I got was very poor customer service from Sandy. She tried to demand that I use a credit card cause her system couldn’t run a credit check at all. First off she never even asked for my social which is needed in order to do a credit check, second she didn’t even have me sign any paperwork in order to have documentation and proof that I gave my permission to run a credit check and third Sandy was was just flat out rude and clearly she’s only there for a paycheck and doesn’t care about her job and clearly doesn’t wanna put in the work to be able to provide great customer service. I even pulled up my credit score myself and showed her. What’s even worse is when I asked to speak to her manager or someone above her she claimed that she was the manger. I’m glad that I didn’t pay anything before hand cause I bet I wouldn’t have gotten back any of my money. Also they need to contact the company’s that use them and give them the proper information on rentals cause it was a waste of time to go there. Never again… best of luck Sandy with your failing business.
