We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:00PM - 9:00PM
The Azle Police Explorer Post #203 was recently created by Officer Thomas Berrettini #246 and Detective R.D. Wingate #223, in an effort to bring the youth of Azle into a positive learning environment to learn about what a Law Enforcement career has to offer.
Law Enforcement Explorers is a Nation-wide program that many police departments support. Chartered by the Boy Scouts of America, the program has a solid foundation and was created for youth to succeed. Explores is a "Career Interest Group" that allows youth 14-21 years of age to learn about the Law Enforcement profession.
Explorers participate in training in the following topics: Penal Code, Transportation Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Traffic Stops, Robbery, Burglary, Theft, Accident Scene Investigation, Crowd Control, Tactics/Building Searches, Narcotics, Search Warrants, Crime Scene Investigation, Crisis Negotiation, Juvenile crimes, and much more.
Once participants have gained a basic knowledge of the above topics, they will participate in competitions locally, state-wide and nation-wide. They will assume the role of police officer and display the skills they have learned, while competing against other explorer posts in actual police scenarios.
After an Explorer has been in the program for a required amount of time, they will be eligible to participate in the "Ride-Along" program, where they will be permitted to ride-along with Azle Police Officers during their normal tour of duty. They will get to experience, first hand, what Police Officers do while on patrol. Safety of the Explorer is always priority. Policies set forth by the Azle Police Department Explorer Program ensure the Explorer is kept safe while riding along with the Police Department
Police Explorers is open to both males and females
