The Dissertation - the culminating academic requirement represents the student's original research and typically takes three to six terms to complete
The 48-unit Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership offers three emphases which includes Leadership, School Psychology and Teaching and Learning. This equips graduates to emerge as change agents in the educational sytem. The program is taught in a cohort format and utilizes distributed learning, wherein students learn face-to-face 80 percent of the time and receive online instruction the other 20 percent.
Students complete the equivalent of two courses (6 units) per term for three terms per year. The Azusa campus cohort opens in the fall and meets on Wednesday evenings or Saturdays. The Regional Center cohort opens each spring and meets on Saturdays.
The Department of Doctoral Studies in Education offers an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership to a broad range of educators, particularly those in administrative, teaching, and school psychology roles who wish to expand and deepen their knowledge and enhance their capacity to lead, inspire, and educate. This is accomplished through a common core of courses including those in research, strengths, and ethics from a Christian perspective and through one of three possible emphases: Teaching and Learning, Leadership, and School Psychology.
