Our program helps alleviate the hunger that over 500 Broken Arrow Public Schools' children face. We are fully funded thru private donations from the generous folks of Broken Arrow.
The program provides schoolchildren with sacks of nutritious and easy-to-prepare food items for use over the weekend. These children have been identified by school personnel as chronically hungry, and whose nutritional needs are not met while away from school. This program has grown since its beginning. Therefore, the resources to provide the food sacks are great. The cost to provide weekly assistance to one child per school year is $150 and continues to increase with the rising cost of food. Additionally, the manpower to set-up, prepare and deliver the food sacks every week is substantial.
