Back of Beyond Outfitters has been the proud provider of premium kayak and canoeing gear, apparel, tours, rentals and classes for the past 12 years.
Our store on Winslow Way is open from 11-6 and our summer rental hours are 10-6. Stop on by to take a peek at our stock of Filson, Helly Hansen, Chaco, Mountain Khaki, and Icebreaker apparel, as well as our showroom of Current Designs, Prijon, Boréal kayaks, Wenonah Canoes, as well as Adirondack guide boats.
Our rental dock can be found at waterfront park on the public dock, less than a 10 minute walk from the ferry along the waterfront trail.
We also provide classes and tour which are available year long. From your basic 3 hour class, to intensive weekends, all the way to rescue and roll classes (in the Bainbridge pool for your comfort!), we have something for every level of paddler. In the summer, we provide canoe tours in our traditional canoes as well, varying from groups as small as 4 to as large as 18. Be sure to sign the kids up for our summer camps as well! We provide week long half day camps for age 7-11 and 11-14, Monday through Friday. Children will learn a variety of kayaking and canoeing skills, safety and basic rescue skills, as well as nautical knowledge games, marine wildlife education, and plenty of games and team building.
