Description

Our Mission
The mission of Baker Intermediate Library is to instill information literacy skills so that our students will be life long learners. This will be achieved by creating a learning community designed to intertwine the three components of a distinguished library: program administration, teaching and learning, and information access and delivery.

The Center's Philosophy
The library is the hub of the school's educational activities. Achieving such a center hinges on many different facets - a collaborative relationship among the media center specialist, the teachers, and administration; a well developed collection in a variety of formats that is fully integrated into the school's curriculum and provides for the interest, information, and enlightenment of all; a well organized facility making location of information easily accessible; a well developed library curriculum that teaches inquiry skills in an authentic setting; a program that incorporates technology for inquiry as well as for presenting information; and an open, inviting atmosphere that inspires a love for reading and life long learning. A thriving school library is a vital component to a successful learning environment.

Center's Hours
The center is tentatively open from 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM Monday through Friday. If students need extra time for projects, they are welcome to schedule time after 2:30 PM with the media specialist.

Check-out Policies
Students may check out two items - 2 books or 1 book and 1 magazine. They may keep books for two weeks and magazines for two days. There will be no fines for overdue items, but students must take care of items that are overdue before checking out new items. If students lose a book or magazine, they will be expected to pay for the replacement value of the item.

Volunteers
Volunteers are most welcome! There is always something you can do to help!
