I had my wedding here last weekend and it was absolutely amazing. I had a great time with our families all staying together and Shannon was awesome! She is so nice and will help with anything and is always there to answer your questions. It was beautiful for my wedding and we would love to stay here for a family vacation! I loved that everyone’s room had a key to it. I would definitely recommend!
I recommend AGAINST booking your wedding here ! It got so bad that my sister had to CANCEL HER WEDDING here and is now having to look for another place to have her wedding/re-print her invitations, etc. She booked the lodge and several cabins and chalets 1 1/2 years in advance for her wedding. She discussed all the details and signed a detailed agreement, procedures and policies, at that time. The staff at Cheaha turned-over 2 times since then. Each time, confusion would occur and she would have to re-establish everything; it was very frustrating and stressful. The newest current Events Manager was especially challenging to deal with. Somehow, the staff had booked several of her reserved chalets/cabins to other people. They told my sister they wouldn't fix their error wouldn't contact the other people saying "oops, we made a mistake, that cabin was already booked". So my sister called hotels in Anniston to make other arrangements saddened because that was a big reason for having the wedding there, for people to stay in cabins. Not a single hotel room in Anniston or Oxford was available - Talladega had announced that the weekend of her wedding would be a race weekend. The current Events Manager then told my sister that, not only would they not fix their error not honor her original cabin/chalet reservations, and, now that it is a race weekend, her guests that still had cabins/chalets/rooms, would now have to pay for 3 nights. When she had booked, it was not a race-weekend at that time, and now there are no other accommodations available for her wedding guests, that weekend! Then, while trying to discuss that ... and good luck discussing- they reserve the right to take several days to get back to you, and, when discussing, give the impression that they do not care that much about you or the fact that it is your wedding... the staff rented out another one of the cabins that she had reserved. There is no "upper manager" with final authority to appeal to my sister tried, was told at first, "OK, it's fixed now", then, 2 days later told, "Well, we take that back, nothing is fixed and we recommend you only coordinate with the <current> Events Manager". Then the Events Manager said they couldn't find her original-signed agreement on file so my sister would have to sign another - then she sent my sister a very DIFFERENT agreement: still paying them $5,500 to use the lodge, yet now: wedding guests not staying in the park have to leave by a <earlier> time; all music/musicians can only be inside the lodge can't be on the patio, etc.; previous Manager said they could; we wouldn't be allowed to start setting up in the lodge until several hours after originally stated; we have to take out all the trash, sweep and mop the entire space - AND have to bring our own cleaning supplies and brooms & mops to do it!!; 3 night min stay for all/any accommodations because now it is a race weekend; and, now included only about 60% of the cabins/chalets that she had reserved they were not going to honor her previously-made reservations; and, the caterer and the wedding guests not staying in the park have to pay a park entry fee to attend the wedding... etc. My sister offered to email her a copy of the original signed agreement, as she had a copy - my sister was told, "doesn't matter/it is no longer applicable, you will have to go by / sign this new "agreement." The new "agreement" is vastly less-appealing, would still cost $5,500, there is now nowhere for 40% of her guests to stay and those who still have a cabin/chalet at the moment would now have to pay for 3 nights... and, at any time, the Events Manager whoever that is at the time can apparently change multiple aspects of the "agreement," at any time. We as a family have always loved Cheaha Park and my sister's desire was to get married at Bald Rock Lodge, but, could no longer trust them with her big day and we made the sad and disappointing decision to cancel the wedding reservation and then start the hard work of re-looking and re-planning elsewhere.
Beautiful environment. The walking trail is peaceful and good for beginners. The only con would be that there is no pool/hot tub included with the lodge. That seems like a must for any resort... Overall, though, very satisfied with the experience.
Cozy and inviting space, the view in the back makes it all 5 stars. There is lots of wood furniture in the rooms.
We really enjoy riding up here and having lunch. I have never had a bad experience here. Everyone from the gatehouse to the restaurant are a joy to be around. If you want to get away from everything and have some peace and quiet, this is the perfect place. I haven't been to the Saturday evening seafood buffet but I hear that it's really good.
Very beautiful inside & out. Lots of space. Rooms and bathrooms for everyone. Home feeling. More than one entertainment area, perfect if you want to keep age groups separate. It is separate from the rest of the camping area, so there is plenty of space around for pitching tents, parking vehicles and outdoor games. There is a store not even 5 minutes down & other sleeping areas around there. First time visiting, and was amazed by the beauty of the mountain and was glad to be able to spend it in this lodge.
A really beautiful place to visit. Normally fantastic views unfortunately a bit overcast on our recent visit. Alabama Park service folks are great. Veterans enter the park for free, Thank you for that Alabama!
This was the absolute best venue for our wedding. Great and attentive staff! The heat was out in the main room February 3,2018 but the staff let us use all of the firewood we needed and made sure we were happy and warm. The rooms were great and heat worked really well within the rooms. Kitchen was just right too. Classic on Noble catered our rehearsal dinner and they worked well in this kitchen. I can't recommend this lodge enough!
Very BEAUTIFUL building. With a great history. Just installed a new ice machine for our guest.
Amazing view at the bald rock
