This is not a hardware store. I went there on 8/9/2023 to buy snap hooks for a flagpole - something I thought was a very common hardware item with multiple uses. Within a minute of walking into the store, I was greeted by a gentleman, whom I believe may be an owner, who advised me quickly he no longer carries these items - "sent them all back" or words to the effect and promptly told me I would have to go to Home Depot or Lowe's for such an item. Somewhat discouraged, but determined, I crossed the bridge to Brewer to my friendly neighborhood Aubuchon Hardware store and low and behold, they had numerous snap hooks of a variety of shapes and sizes. Imagine my surprise. While I always respect my elders, if you're not into hardware - stick to the ice cream and redemption center. SAW
I live just down the street and I love supporting local businesses but can't support this place! Are they a front door the mob? Maybe they just don't serve people like me? I have walked in the door x3 and the elderly man stops me and asks what I need, shakes his head and says none of those came on the truck this month. And then I go to Lowes. They don't have Allen key/wrench, a step stool, extension cords, plug adapters and I can't remember what else. But seriously?
The store probably had many glory days but they have long passed. It probably has an interesting history. Still, it appears as if they haven't ordered any inventory in 20 years and are selling mostly what they have left. There are some interesting old things here, but they are evidently making no effort at all at providing a full line of anything except maybe paint. The roof leaks on shelves and merchandise and there are make-shift devices to catch the water. It is a hollow shell of what it must once have been.
I've tried to shop here on four different occasions, different times during the middle of the day or evening when it says they're open. The door is always locked with the open sign still flashing. Dude get someone to run your store so people can support you
Update your hours. Your sign on the door and Google both say 4:30, yet I walk all the way over at 3:30 and the doors are locked. At least I got a walk in
Very helpful! Helped me get the best vent I could for my dryer, even let me check the vent before buying it. Gave me a good deal as well. Very friendly and amazing hospitality !
What an excellent deal on a UHAUL trailer, patient, understanding, easy to work with when I had so many unexpected complications! I'm so happy I chose this place to rent from. Very old school business
Went to this establishment tonight. The web information said they were open until 5:30. When I arrived at 4:49 pm, an older man was just leaving. As I started up the steps, he told me they were closed and pointed to the sign on the door. The sign stated they closed at 5:00 pm. I politely said that it was only 4:49. He asked what I needed. When I told him, he stated that was at the back of the store and they were closed. This is no way to run a business. If your hours are until 5, and that is what your door states, you should be open until 5. Also, I got the impression that if my item had been at the front of the store I’d have been allowed in to purchase it. Terrible customer service. I will never go to this establishment again.
Great, local hardware store. The guys that run the place are classic, old-school types. They know their customers by name and care about the community. They've grown to compete with big boxes, and stayed open. It's a labyrinthine store with everything you need and things you cant get anywhere else: plexiglass cut to size, screening by the foot, grass seed by the pound - same type up as Scotts at 1/5 the price, etc.. Go check it out. Support local business. True America, right there.
I first learned about Hardware here in the 60's They always had Anything You could want. They were the "go to store" Unfortunately that is no longer the case. Very few items in the store, Very spartan, looks like a store that's closing... Going out of business....
