This place does not uphold the standard of baptist health care. I have several specialists most of them baptists health and I have never experienced the kind of treatment I did here. It started with the medical assistant making rude comments about my medical history and rushing through my appointment so much so she didn’t get all my medications or medical history. When I told her there was more she said what we have is fine and walked out of the room. I’ve been a medical assistant and know that’s not fine. Then my doc saw me at a second appointment for a foot injury. She said believed it was broken, but she wanted to get X-rays to make sure. She also said that I’d have to be off work till they found out. I said I went back to work on Thursday when would we get the results or know when I could go back to work. She said we’d definitely have the results by Thursday. I called several times to get my results and the front office staff were so clueless they didn’t even know where to look. One person told me one thing and another told me something else. I finally ended up filing a complaint through MyChart which went straight to the NP that was treating me. She told me she has 24 hours to contact me after she receives the results to contact me. Then why did she tell me I’d have the results by Thursday? And I wouldn’t have even cared if it wasn’t deciding whether or not I’d be able to go back to work which is what she told me. I asked several times if I’d be able to go back to work and she finally said yes. That’s all I wanted to begin with and it was like pulling teeth to get that out of them. When I went back to work my employer was concerned about me working and said to go back to the doc and get a light duty letter. I did so and called several times again before I got and answer till I finally did and was told she would not approve a light duty letter. I felt this was retaliation against me for filing a complaint about staff so I called to get my provider changed and was sent to the clinical manager. I explained to the manager why I wanted to switch providers and she offered to get a different provider to look at my records to see if they thought I should be on light duty. She was supposed to call me back and one time she did but needed more time to gather records for the new provider and I never received a call back. Instead I received a letter stating that they will no longer treat me in the office. If this isn’t retaliation I don’t know what is. I advocated for myself and was treated horribly. Not one of the staff I encountered was helpful or pleasant. Now fast forward to now and I’ve seen an orthopedic doc and Ive found out that the NP misdiagnosed me and I have an overuse injury and should have been off of my foot the entire time. Doing what she told me to do actually made me worse. Now I’m in a brace and on medical leave and worse because of her treatment and judgment. Never again will I go here and I will warn anyone who says they will go here. You treated me horrible and made my injury worse. You should be ashamed! Work on your attitude and your communication! Your patients deserve better!
Do not recommend going to Cheryl Shunnarah at Baptist in jtown. Went to get established as a new patient as I came from out of state. As I was telling her about my issues she kept asking if that was all and only ever asked if I wanted medication. I want help with my issues not medication to rely on . She was very rushy throughout the whole appointment. Did not seem to care at all. Just wanted an in an out appt. And if you have any issues with side effects from vaccines, she will not help you. Please think twice before choosing her as your primary care. Choose someone more caring
Don’t ever expect a call back. I switched doctors because of this via an employee at the office and was called 2 hours before my appointment saying that he was new and he can’t do that. I have to stay with Dr Cawdill who won’t return a message, or not to come at all. Was told by an employee who called for something unrelated “Oh, yea I don’t see any call backs” and now magically all these callback notes today that didn’t happen. I was told he was new and he can’t do that and I guess the other person was lying they weren’t because the lady today said the exact opposite of what the previous correct employee said. No voicemail box, no missed calls. Bizarre experience. Get it together over there.
I had a great visit with Dr Wheeler , he was very professional as well as his asst . I went back a week later to ask for a Drs note to he off from work due to the burning in both of my feet . Diabetic was ruled out , He thought it could be nerve damage . So I went to the desk at around 9am an talked tothe lady at the desk an she said come back in a few hours . So I came back an a lady named Alicia stated that I would not be able to talk to Dr Wheeler and that there was no way I would get a Drs note . Alicia continued to be rude an was making a disruptive situation . She was extremely loud an my feet were burning all I wanted was a Drs note . It wasn't like I was asking for pain pills or anything like that , then on 7/12/2016 I get a certified letter stating I would no longer be able to see Dr Wheeler due to my behavior . I wonder If Dr Wheeler knows how Alicia behaves at the front desk . Alicia had no business being in the medical field where she had to talk to the public . If I ran that Office Alicia would have been fired for the way she talked to me and handled the situation . I still didn't get an answer on my feet . I went to see Dr Potter an he was very professional but still sent me to yet another office . A physical Therapy office on 7/15/2016. I hope I can get an answer soon . Again Alicia if she is a nurse , she has a lot to learn about how to talk to the public .
Alyse Harris works here and she is the absolute best primary care i've ever had. I can be completely honest with her about anything. She is hilarious and really knows Hows to talk to people. She makes the experience of going to the doc much more bearable. Thanks again!
To get someone to call the pharmacy and get refills takes at least a week, so if you are low on medicine, beware! No compassion from the office or medical assistance even if it is a medicine you cannot be without. Finally had to call HR department to get it done!!
I called to get an appt as a new patient. The receptionist was horribly rude. I have never dealt with someone like her in all of my years getting medical care. I will warn anyone about this place.
I've been very ill for a few years now and I don't know what I would do without the great staff and especially Dr O'Brien who has literally been a life saver for me. Thanks for helping me through this time!
I recieved a letter last month stating that Dr Joe Dunaway, my Prinary care Doctor, who had no plans of retiring, suddenly, without a public explanation had left the practice. All of his patients were kicked to the curb.
I used to love this practice before Baptist took it over. Now the docs have to rush through every appointment, barely look at you because they're looking at and notating every thing on their tablet and the receptionists I've dealt with just aren't very helpful or kind.
