We went after a day of skiing for a good old American burger. We had two families, a party of eight. The service was pretty slow. When we did get our food it was very good. The portions are large, you could almost share with another person if you weren’t starving. a great place for higher end American food. Service would probably be better if you sat at the bar.
Below average food and over priced. I don't like writing negative reviews but this meal left me no other option. Had the Seafood Tag, $43 pasta dish with clams, 4 of 6 clam did not even open after cooking?.... Not very fresh?? $23 sliders trio with cheese costing extra?? We had shroom pie Mushroom pizza it was undercooked and the Whiskey Ribeye was about the best part of this meal. Obviously the kitchen needs to put a little more effort into the final product. The cocktails were good and thats about it.
Staff is the most important thing, and these folks are outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and although busy, take their time with customers. The food was outstanding! I'm a fish & chips lover and theirs was some of the best! Light crispy outside and juicy whitefish inside. Don't remember what my wife had, but she loved it. Full bar and the mojitos were perfect. I'll be back!
I hadn’t been here in over 10 years and my memory of the place wasn’t super positive. I am so glad we tried it again for lunch because it was really good and Amy our server was delightful. We had our dog with us and needed to sit outside. They were totally prepared for outdoor diners despite it being January with snow all around. But the sun was out and we were soon joined by other diners both with and without dogs I had the ahi tuna poke nachos which were delicious and the perfect entree size for me. My husband loved the blackened fish tacos. We split the apple crisp which once again was the perfect size for us to share and end our meal with a sweet treat. The bathroom was clean. This was the perfect place to stop after waking down from the Tahoe Donner trail, getting some sustenance before walking the 1.6 miles back to our car.
Great lunch spot. Don’t miss the 6 Shooter Poppers or the incredible chicken and waffles.Food: 5/5
I felt like it was a really cool building and definitely felt like a Trukee must. Full bar and lots of interesting drinks. The food was not the most amazing. It really was not worth the priceI may be biased since I was visiting from Texas. Service was a bit slow but the server was very nice. Vegetarian options: It's California so there was plenty of vegetarian options. Parking: There was mostly just pay parking. There was some free parking a bit away, but it had a two hour limit.
Food was really great. We had the special that day. The sandwich was hot and came out quickly. The problem lies in the service. The hostess didn’t smile, seemed put off. Our server had zero personality and talked way too fast. Told my wife they put Titos in their Bloody Marys, which she wanted, but she watched as the bartender used Sky. Never checked back on us to see how our food was. Then took my plate before asking if I was finished. Luckily I was but the he just took my wife’s plate who still had food on her plate. She told him she was not finished and then he just went and took her silverware. In the end when he brought the check back after running my card he just said “Here ya go” and walked away. Here ya go, unbelievable, no thank you or thank you for coming in. I blame the restaurant for no proper training. Will not go back.
Great selection of beers. Food was good but could be better, the chicken sandwich was absolutely massive and great but the fish tacos were fairly bland unfortunately.Food: 4/5
WOW, this is the place to get all kinds of amazing food when in Truckee. We recently drove up to see the snow, and the downtown area was the bigger draw. Magical and magnificent in all it's holiday glory. The snow was piled up everywhere so you could walk around and see all of the beautiful stores and restaurants. We found the Bar of America at the edge of town, and what a find. Warm and welcoming coming in from the 23 degree weather outside we quickly found a lovely table by the Christmas tree with views of the outside snow. We had the best waitress, Lexi, who went out of her way to help us with our coats, and to patiently explain the menu to us. Being first timers we needed that. She could not of been nicer. My husband ordered the Fish and chips with iced tea, and I got the amazing sirloin burger, med rare, with sauteed onions, bacon, swiss cheese, tomato and all the condiments I could add on. I also ordered their amazing hot cocoa which did not disappoint. Both our choices were just so delicious and fresh, add all of this to the cozy, comfortable and seasonal dining room and you have yourself a hit, all the way around.
Great place to have lunch or dinner while in Truckee. The staff was very Friendly .Food: 4/5
