This site was designed to offer a shopping cart experience to our customers who prefer shopping completely on line rather than having to communicate directly with a real person, but that communication is still an option here.
One of the best ways to make use of this site is to browse it by category. Sometimes the book you really need is one you haven't discovered yet. This site will be growing on a daily basis. We are trying to add our core subjects and critical thinking materials first, since they meet the needs of the largest number of people. But if you need something to add a little zing to your curriculum or want to get out of a rut, there's lots to find here to do the job. At the present time (January 29, 2010) this web site has about 4,500 of our best selling titles and also some used books that are one of a kind. Any of our titles are available to schools by purchase order. You might want to email me about that before faxing or mailing your regular purchase order form. Our minimum shipping change for any size purchase order is $4.10. If your purchase order contains less than ten books, estimate shipping as $4.20 for the first book and .60 for each additional book. For more than ten books, estimate shipping as 12% of the bill. I will adjust it downward if it is more than my normal shipping and handling costs. Priority shipping is more and to determine it, please contact me before submitting your purchase order. I can also ship UPS when requested, and for 2-7 day shipping often use it instead of priority mail when cheaper if you don't need it in three days.
If you need a reproducible book immediately, you might want to visit our eBook store. You will not only be able to get what you want immediately, but you will also have a larger selection and not pay any shipping. You will need to pay for eBooks on that site, not this one. You also need to make any purchase orders for ebooks separate from physical book purchase orders, and follow directions on ebook site for ebook purchase orders.
We sell through two different store names on this site with two separate shopping carts -- Barb's People Builders and Barb's People Builders Teaching Help. If you order books from both store names, we will automatically consolidate the shipment and the shipping fees, but it won't show on either shopping cart. The total will be less than the two cart totals put together -- usually by at least $3.00 for media mail. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. We also accept PayPal, personal checks drawn on United States banks, and international postal money orders. We do accept school purchase orders. Be sure and specify with the drop down menu on the order page if you want expedited (Priority or air) shipping (average 2-3 days in USA). Priority is our default if you don't specify. Economy shipping within the U.S. is media mail (average 7-28 days). My default rate for media mail is $4.10 for the first book. Sometimes additional books will also be shipped in the order without an increase in postage. It depends upon the weight. The shopping cart default is a few cents higher because it also has to cover the CA tax on shipping. Only California people (or those who order heavier than usual items) will pay the complete default shopping cart rates. My default rate for anything that will fit into a flat rate priority envelope is $5.60.. Sometimes more than one book will fit. Most priority orders of over 2 lbs will be charged $11.00 for as many books as will fit in a medium flat rate box. If you live near California you will be charged no more than that, and maybe less. If you order too much to fit in the box, I'll contact you with an exact rate and get your permission before I ship. Keep in mind that the shopping cart uses number of items, not weight, in its calculations. This will normally calculate more than I will really charge you. I can always lower a postage rate without having to delay the order by contacting you, but I can't raise the rate unless I get your permission. So the cart is almost always going to calculate too much. I do offer a 50% discount on shipping for additional books in an order after the first book. We will always get your authorization if the amount needs to be increased.
We guarantee your satisfaction. If you get a book that is not as described, you may return it at our expense within 10 days of receipt for a full refund. We do ask that you contact us with the reason before you do this.
If the books you order do not meet your needs we will cheerfully refund the purchase price,if you return the book in the same condition as you got it, within 10 days of receipt. We only refund shipping fees if the book was not as described. Please contact us first with the reason for your return.
If your shipment was damaged, let us know and we will make arrangements for return or discount, according to your desires. Please email for return authorization within ten days of receiving the book.
