The Long Island Barber Institute offers programs in Barbering and Appearance Enhancement. We are a full-service, educational barber training facility, providing clinical services performed by students-in-training and supervised by NYS licensed barber instructors. The Long Island Barber Institute is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS), and licensed by the New York State Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision (BPSS).

BARBER COURSES
Master Barber (700 Hours)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Master Barber course is the full practice of traditional barbering, and deals with both development of skill and theory knowledge. This course goes beyond the apprentice level, and train the student for the state board exam in preparation for barbershop management and/or ownership.
Barber Apprentice (500 Hours)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Barber Apprentice course teaches barbering with special emphasis on practical training. This course is taught using a variety of current instructional methods including lectures, demonstrations, visual aids, textbooks, and practice with real clients. Students blend theoretical and practical training on a daily basis.
Barbering for Cosmetologists II (400 Hours)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to teach master barber skills to persons already licensed as a Cosmetologist, or who posses advanced training in Cosmetology. Upon completion, graduate will obtain the fundamentals to successfully pass the N.Y.S. barber exam to become a licensed barber.
Concept of Natural Hairstyling (300 Hours)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Concepts of Natural Hairstyling course is designed for the individual who wishes to become a professional Natural Hairstylist. During the course, students will become proficient in the safety and sanitation procedures required to offer various natural hair styling services. The course also teaches students the latest braiding, weaving and locking techniques.
REFRESHER COURSES
Barber Refresher (20 Hours)
STATE REQUIREMENTS
This course is designed for those with practical experience of three years or more including those from another state, country or military who wish to attend school to prepare for the N.Y.S. Master Barber Exam. Upon completion, student will be eligible to take the state board examination to become a licensed barber. This is the perfect course for the unlicensed practitioner who has the experience to become a Master Barber.
Skills Refresher for Barber Exam (15 Hours)
STATE REQUIREMENTS
This course is designed for New York State registered apprentice barbers. You will learn the guidelines, expectations and practical procedures to successfully pass the state board examination. Upon completion, you will be skillfully prepared to take the state exam to become a licensed barber.
Special Awareness Course (4 Hours)
STATE REQUIREMENTS
A course for all Appearance Enhancement Professionals such as Barbers, Cosmetologists, Nail Technicians, Estheticians, Natural Hairstylists, etc., who seek licensing, registration or renewals.
