Barberology College of Barbering Arts

About

Barberology College of Barbering Arts is Columbus Ohio’s premier barber college.

Mission

Barberology College of Barbering Arts is the future of barbering education. Barberology sees way beyond contemporary education. Unlike many other schools, Barberology does not see an end at a student’s graduation or career success (e.g. barber employees,
employers, educators, industry manufactures, etc.). Instead, Barberology’s core focus is imparting the conviction of what true barbering is…and is not!!! Barberology believes greatness
awaits the next generation of barbers who decide to represent, preserve, and pass down the true character of barbering!

My son Blake finished his hours on September 15, 2021. Mr. McAfee said Blake had to come back and take a written and practical exam to graduate. Mr. McAfee rescheduled this over and over between 9-16-21 and 11-2-21. He would either text Blake and tell him he couldn't, or Blake would drive up there (82 miles round trip) and sit all day waiting for Mr. McAfee to give him the test only to be told by Mr. McAfee that he didn't have time that day. After a month and a half of this and dozens of cancellations, I contacted Mr. McAfee asking for clarification on what was happening. He responded very rudely to me once and wouldn't after that. I called The Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board to get some advice on what to do. I talked to Mr. Ed Highley who contacted Mr. McAfee on our behalf but after their initial conversation, Mr. McAfee wouldn't respond to his phone calls either. After another 2 weeks of cancellations and partial tests, November 2, 2021, Mr. McAfee finally administered the whole test to Blake (for the 1st time!) and he passed. He told Blake he would get the paper he needed to schedule his boards notarized after school that day and would email it to him that evening. He then said he didn't have enough time and said he would do it Wednesday during his lunch break. He then said he would do it Thursday. On Thursday he said he didn't have time and he would do it Friday. I contacted Mr. McAfee and sent him a screen shot of his contract that stated "(B) A CERTIFIED FINAL TRAINING RECORD FOR EACH STUDENT SHALL BE PREPARED AND FORWARDED ALONG WITH THE STUDENT'S APPLICATION FOR LICENSURE TO THE BOARD IMMEDIATELY UPON THE STUDENT'S SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION AND PASSING OF THE PROGRAM. THE RECORD SHALL BECOME A PART OF THE STUDENT'S APPLICATION TO TAKE THE BOARD EXAMINATION FOR THE STUDENT'S PROGRAM OF STUDY AS A PREREQUISITE TO RECEIVING ANY LICENSE." He responded with: "You have no idea what you’re talking about and I would suggest you stop harassment. You don’t win people over with vinegar and you need to stop enabling your son and let him become a man. I’m not the dude to harass and play your little high control mommy games with. This isn’t my first rodeo. You’re laughable at best mrs county school teacher! Stop contacting me and preventing Blake from growing up. You literally have no idea what you’re saying or trying to quote. Get a hold of yourself! You intimidate me 0%! I can quote laws and regulations too except I’d be able to back mine up in a court of law. Don’t contact me again!!!" This message is very offensive to me as a female teacher who is trying to advocate for her son's education that was paid in full upfront. I had sent him a total of 6 messages over the course of a month and at no point had I said one rude word to Mr. McAfee or called him any names. He then text Blake this nasty text message about me "Don’t worry I’d never punish a student for their mothers reckless behavior. I’ll have your stuff tomorrow. I need you to get on big boy pants and tell your mom to simmer down and stop contacting me. She’s sending me misinterpreted state laws out of context and literally has no idea what she’s reading nor how embarrassing it would be for her to keep pressing the issue. I’ll take care of dude, no worries there." I then contacted Mr. Ed Highley at The Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board again and he emailed Mr. McAfee asking for the notorized letter be sent to him directly by 3 pm that day. Mr. McAfee did send the letter directly to Mr. Highley but has still not sent it to Blake. After we got Blake scheduled for his boards, Mr. McAfee was supposed to give Blake the needed supplies to take his exam. Blake text Mr. McAfee several times to arrange the pickup and Mr. McAfee would not respond to any of his messages. Blake drove up to the school 4 days before the test and Mr. McAfee did give Blake some of the needed supplies but not all of them. During the course of Blake's training, there were several other times we needed tax forms or scholarship forms from Mr. McAfee and it would take many messages over weeks and months to get them from him. He never did give us the tax form we needed for our taxes last April. Mr. McAfee is extremely unorganized, unprofessional, rude, and discriminatory. I would HIGHLY NOT recommend anyone enroll at Barberology. Once he gets the money, he doesn't care about anything else.
