This is a great gym for beginners. They could benefit from a little more focus on technique but over all pretty good. I would recommend if for the kiddos. We've enjoyed our time especially with training with Antonio but our son is ready for the next level. Best of luck guys!
I’m an amateur boxer training out of NYC, and found this gym while I was on a leave of absence from work in April. My father was on hospice, and I was so lucky to find a place to stay active and in shape, while also feeling the support of a community when I really needed it the most. The instructors are friendly, energetic, and present a challenging workout every single time. The new facility is beautiful, and whenever I’m visiting my family I will make an effort to drop in. The owner Clayton was also cool enough to invite me to sparring class, which I sincerely appreciate!
Being new to the boxing community, it was intimidating at first however, Bare Bones Boxing and all their instructors are very welcoming to all levels of experience. They will work with you to learn the skills while at the same time getting a killer workout. I love the level of energy and uniqueness each instructor brings to their class. Highly recommend to anyone that has been on the fence. Definitely give them a try!
I love Bare Bones, always a good workout & a ton of fun. They're accepting of all experience levels & give modifications for higher & lower difficulty in most classes. They're also involved with the community, showing up to charity events & local fights, plus they offer Rock Steady boxing for fighting the progression of Parkinsons which is cool. Clayton, the owner, is really helpful & gives good feedback. All-around a great business, with a strong community feel. Definitely #1 in CT!
Bare Bones is an exceptional boxing gym that I am very grateful for. The owner, Clayton, is very attentive and considerate of everyone who drops in. I've been going here for years and have never had a negative experience. All of the trainers are extremely knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend Bare Bones for both experienced and novice gym-goers!
Best boxing workout I've been to and the atmosphere is unmatched! Bare bones is not only a challenging workout for someone at any level of fitness, but there is a true sense of community with instructors that care and motivate you to be your best. 10/10 recommend!
Extremely knowledgeable staff and owner. They took the time to help me better understand an active routine to fit my needs and goals. Fully recommend talking to their team especially if you're on the fence!
Having always wanted to box, I’ve had nothing short of an incredible experience at Barebones! The trainers are top notch and throw everything but the kitchen sink at you for some amazing workouts, either in the ring or on the bags, weights or cardio circuits. The boxing classes are high energy and intense. The fitness instructors really push you to your limits and beyond, but keep it fun and upbeat. There are days I can’t wait to get there!
From the amazing workouts, the knowledgeable and talented boxing trainers, the 90s hip hop playlists, to the down-to-earth and genuinely friendly vibe, BB feels like a safe haven from the often-superficial and isolating routines of our current world. If you want a great read: super challenging!, workout, the cardio boxing classes are awesome for all levels. If you want to learn to fight, you couldn't find a more welcoming, encouraging, and generous group of people to guide and support you. Either way, Clayton, Dwight, Mallory, Antonio, Anthony, and all the other trainers will help you push yourself further than you knew you could go, and inevitably help you build a kind of physical and mental strength that is absolutley invaluable both in and outside of the gym. But most importantly, BB really is a community and a family -- it sounds cliche but there are few places where you'll routinely feel the kind of support, encouragement, and genuine joy that thrives in BB. Clayton makes a point to get to know everyone and he and all the trainers never fail to greet everyone with what truly feels like genuine excitement. When you strip away the pomp and circumstance that seems to define many corporate gyms, you're left with the "bare bones" that BB excels at: real workouts, real training, and real people who truly support one another.
Bare bones boxing is more than just a cardio boxing establishment. It's where strangers can become friends and friends become family. The energy here is always on point with driving you to push your limits. From kids class all the way up to classes for seniors they strive to make you sweat and walk out feeling refreshed. Keep on keeping on Bare Bones
