Excellent customer service , authentic, delicious German food. Had the brat and kielbasa bites as an appetizer and the schnitzel entree as a main. Servings were a good portioned size. Atmosphere was traditional European. Server was very friendly, attentive, knowledgeable on food, polite, courteous, professional, and made great recommendations. Overall great experience and would definitely come again.
We stopped here for lunch, be aware all the parking cost money and it’s very hard to get in the first place. The place itself is great. I did check and sadly no one really speaks German, which was really sad for me. The food itself was great and the service was great as well. We enjoyed our food a lot here, and the food was served extremely fast. Highly recommend!
As one person below said, the food here is nothing to write home about. I ordered the schnitzel - it was good but not amazing. My husband’s spaghetti was good meat sauce and mushroom sauce, but they didnt put enough meat sauce and when he asked for more, we were charged $4US which is like $6 for me. We both agreed the place was kinda meh for food, but the servers definitely worked hard and busted their butts - we appreciated that for sure!
Located in a red brick building on the corner, I had the schnitzel. A big, yeasty roll with butter was served - big enough for two. It was greatly appreciated, since I had not eaten since breakfast. The schnitzel came with two large pieces, pounded properly thin, breaded, and flavored with herbs. Although it didn't taste like the plain schnitzel I remember from Germany, the flavor was good and the schnitzel was not greasy. The roasted potatoes were amazing. Why don't my potatoes taste like that? It came with two types of sauerkraut - a red and a white one. The white one had a lot of pucker power to it. I preferred the milder, sweeter red one. The restaurant had a wonderful authentic, old fashioned ambiance with the seating, high tin ceiling, and windows. Overall, the food would have been 5 stars if the schnitzel tasted like what I remembered from Germany, but it was very good the way it was served with herb flavors and not greasy. I felt like I got alot of good food for my money at Baren Haus. I had another schnitzel, the sandwich, at Ludwig's restaurant which tasted like I remembered but was loaded in oil.
Delicious German food. Friendly wait staff. Highly recommend the spiced wine. It was so perfectly sweet and perfect to warm up on these cooler days. There were several good gluten free options to pick from as well.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
Fast service. Friendly service. Delicious pretzel, salad and bratwurst. Normal serving sizes. Average prices. Lots of shade and a breeze on a very hot day. Enjoyed our meal and would go back and recommend.Food: 5/5
Fantastic brewhouse restaurant....! Their sausages and their reuben sandwich was out-of-this-world. Loved the beer selection. Great place. Went back for Dinner and I had the remoulade. It was Fantastic! My wife had the schnitzel and it was a little dry. They had a guitarist who was very talented!Food: 5/5
I was a little disappointed here. The decor is fun and the staff were pleasant, but the food was nothing to write home about. There are some traditional German dishes on the menu, including beef rouladen and sour braten, as well as pizzas and some salads. The pizza was so-so and my wife was rather disappointed in her salad, which was very one-dimensional.
Three of us got the Schnitzel Jaeger. I had seen the size of the "kid's menu" chicken strips and fries and got that along with my two grandchildren. The Schnitzel was very good and came with potatoes, sour kraut and red cabbage. The chicken and strips were good portioned and delicious. We got the soft pretzels and cheese appetizer. Yum! Kid-friendliness: Awesome chicken strips and fries! Enough to feed an adult.
Baren Haus is my favorite restaurant in Leavenworth. Beef Rouladen is the best entrée there! Sauerbraten is a close second, as is the Reuben. The fries are great tooFood: 5/5
