The Bargain Box,York County, Va. Managed by the York County Volunteer Association, the "Box" offers the best thrift shop experience in Hampton Roads.
Proceeds from the Bargain Box are used to provide financial assistance to low-income families. In turn contributing to the broader objective of self-sufficiency. In addition, funds are provided to qualified individuals (both recent high school graduates and adults) to further their education. The York County Volunteer Association offers York County and Poquoson citizens scholarships for adult vocational, trade school, and technical training courses that would be expected to help in obtaining improved employment.
To serve as an outlet for the distribution of clothing and household goods for York County and Poquoson citizens, such as victims of fire or floods, who cannot afford to purchase items and for those who are making the transition from homelessness, items are provided free of charge.
