The views are ruined by expensive multimillion dollar cardboard boxes overlooking the water. Instead of looking at trees your are looking at the roofs of very ugly multimillion dollar homes. Seeing that modern cardboard American garbage with zero architectural prowess instead of the natural landscape above the water is utterly revolting and makes me want to vomit.
I was here to fish the river. Once I saw the lake. I remember driving by this lake during hunting season when I was a kid. I caught one above the lake. Before going back down the river to head home. I had several hits from all the little guys. The one I caught was a brown trout.
Beautiful trail around the lake. About half a mile Downstream from the lake there are beautiful picnic areas by the Middle Boulder Creek which happens to feed this reservoir. I’m including the pictures of them as well as the picnic areas aren’t marked in the maps.
Really pretty. From what I could tell, only part of it is accessible for walking, but it’s worth seeing from afar elevated and down close. It’s a beautiful area.
We stumbled across this place after taking backroads heading back to Boulder from Estes Park. It was absolutely stunning. The sheer size of the dam was incredible. It was really cool to see such a beautiful lake tucked away in the mountains. I'd come back just to sit.
Gorgeous and breathtaking. Great place to take your dog or to take a stroll along the shoreline. Nederland is always windy so a jacket makes this more manageable.
So beautiful and perfect for day out away frome the city. No swimming or overnight camping.
Awesome water body in the middle of the mountains. Breathtaking views amid gusty winds. Had a great time.
Was here for some fishing. A lot of shorelines are not accessible for casting due to the abundant of evergreens. The west side by the main parking lot is better, but the water is shallow. Streamer was hard to use due to the shallow water, and it was not effective at the running water inlet but a bite from a tiny fish. FInally got them to go after a dry dropper setup toward the end of the day.
Beautiful spot for a picnic and to take in the scenery and get acclimated to the altitude. You can also go fishing and hang out at the picnic tables.
