Our homestead Barra is 85 acres of mostly woods at the end of a private, dead-end road. Dogs go home tired and satisfied and owners often e-mail to thank me, saying their dogs come home more balanced and well-behaved! A few dog parents have come back complaining that their dog likes me better than them! (I assure you it's not me, but the fact that their dog can run, romp, hike, swim, and play outdoors as they please most of the day, and have a big, snuggly doggie bed to curl up on when they're just plain pooped!) I bring the dogs out on 2 hour daily group hikes and otherwise supervise them outdoors while I'm working on chores or inside when the weather is inclement (or the day is done). Dogs live in the house with us while they're here and are subject to lots of kisses and cuddles and love!
Dog candidates MUST BE OFF-LEASH TRAINED, have GOOD RECALL, and get along well with other dogs, horses, and poultry (though do note that all poultry is fenced in and inaccessible to your furry friend!). Medium to large dogs only, please, though I would be willing to interview smaller dogs, just ask. Puppies welcome!!! Day visits, overnights, short-term and long-term stays available! (We've had some dogs for upwards of two months and others for daycare only). References available on request. Pick-up and drop-off available, though not preferred.

About Me: I currently have two dogs of my own and have worked professionally as a dog trainer/pack leader/dog hiker. At one point I had a pack of four dogs and am well versed at working with groups of pooches. I've had dogs my whole life and fall in love with each and every one I meet! Currently I'm homesteading off-grid, working on a memoir and collection of poetry, running a home-based gluten-free/vegan baking business, working a few hours for a local potter, and performing as a singer-songwriter. Because I make my own hours I am quite flexible with my schedule and can usually accommodate people's dog-care needs.
