Awesome lake! I love coming here with my boyfriend and watching him jet ski. So much fun! This lake is my favorite so far. Just wish people would clean up after themselves.
Beautiful lake and nice drive out to it. Make sure to stop at the circle k nearby to get the Tonto pass for $8 and any snacks or drinks to bring. We didn't go swimming, but we did hike little trails over at the recreation area and were looking at the flowers. There were families and dogs having a lot of fun. It's a nice outting to go do with friends, family, or pets. The water was pretty muddy when we were there from all the runoff rain lately.
Gem of a lake hidden in north carefree! Roads are kept up, lake is clean and the marina has a great little restrain to eat and enjoy the view!
Decent sized lake. The scenery is spectacular! it has amazing cliffs, nice fish, and good water temp! Great spot for a lake day!
I went with my friends to paddle. I also saw people swiming. It saya it is pet friendly but when we arrived to scorpion bay there was a sign saying to dogs allowed on the beach. This is confusing
First time at this lake. Ride up was nice. Would be nice if the machines that give you your pass would include the military discount. We went up to rattlesnake cove. Went to the bathroom and was shocked at how clean it was. Actually the whole area we went to was very clean. Didn't catch any fish. Which was pretty depressing. A bad of fishing is better than a good day at work. The lake was pretty low. We'll be going again when the weather warms up.
Yellow cliffs is a great place to sit and chill out. I got 1 bite all night long and decided that if I wanted to catch any fish it would have to be in a boat. Shore fishing wasn’t very productive.
Beautiful ride, several options camping, boating , or picnic areas.Bring snacks or pay $20 for dry burger at the only restaurant with poor service.
Been here twice now, really like the lake! The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because there is some graffiti on signs and some trash at the barbecue sites that isn't collected. Which gives the place a bit of a unkept look. However the scenery there is very pretty desert scenery, especially the yellow cliffs area. Plenty of BBQ spots as well both at the yellow cliffs and the rattlesnake cove.
Water was beautiful, chilly in October of course.. went out on a Monday and nice and quiet, easy to wake board and tube. Beach was nice and easy to find plenty of spots. Look forward to going back!!
