The Wayne Barton Study Center fills the void left by overcrowding and budget cuts in the classroom and the lack of supervision and guidance at home. The Wayne Barton Study Center offers solid proof that when these kids get extra attention and are pushed in the right direction they can have solid choices about their future. The middle and high school students continue to be the central focus of the center and its curriculum. The majority of programs are aimed at improving their education, tutoring, homework sessions, test preparation and computer lab work. These are the solid base that Barton’s Boosters was started on in 1994. The college readiness, SAT/ACT preparation, college bus tours, scholarship counseling and admission procedures help the students prepare for their academic life after high school. In addition, there is career counseling for students with our mentoring program. The center is designed to help make the students more well rounded in cultural areas such as music, art and social skills.
The more we increase the high school graduation rate, the more choices the students will have regarding their future. The greater number of students that aspire to a college education means we are strengthening our commitment to the community in which we live.
