I was told to try the bear claw by an employee and was not steered wrong. Chocolate chip cookies as big as your head! Prices so low I'm not sure how they are staying in business. But seriously, Bartram House was unexpectedly peaceful on a hot Thursday morning. It was calm and quiet despite a decent number of people taking up seats, even with kids. The cases were stocked with mouthwatering cakes I can't wait to try another time and the fresh made sandwich that whizzed by me smelled wonderful.
This picture should speak a thousand words…. My friend and I got both got iced coffee… and were served it in solo cups…. I’m sorry but if you’re going to give me a solo cup and charge the same price as Starbucks while still using Aldi milk and solo cups, the prices should be adjusted as such. We also weren’t given an explanation as to the cups, so I have to assume this is a standard practice for the business.
So this morning I stopped in for Breakfast on my way out of town. We walked in 30 min after their website stated they were scheduled to open, and only half the lights were on, and no one was in the dining room. I noticed one employee was standing behind the cake counter, and I asked if they were open yet. No "good morning", no "hello".... The response was... "The Doors Unlocked isn't it". Then we asked to ordered breakfast to the same person, and we were instructed we were not in the correct location to order food, and that we needed to step down a few feet towards the register. We walked down to the designated ordering area in the empty bakery. The same young man with "Chef" on his jacket eventually took the time out of his busy schedule to take our order for take out. We then proceeded to stand there for 25 min for a basic breakfast sandwich to be made. While we we waited, the young man tended to busy work including sharpening a chef knife with a steal as he casually walked around with the knife in a unsafe manner. Never once did he recognize the amount of time it took for a empty bakery to produce our order. Once our food eventually found its way out of the kitchen, nether of the breakfast wraps were noted as to what they were, and there was only one napkin was in the bag. When we requested additional Napkins, they were provided with a roll of the eyes from a new employee who had clocked in during our extended wait. The breakfast wrap wasn't much to write home about. That being said, the facility was well decorated, and pastries and cakes looked delightful. Sadly, the rudeness and elevated level of arrogance mixed with the lack of customer service has made sure that we wont be back for a 2nd visit.
AMAZING!!! This was the best breakfast my husband and I ever had!!! The pictures don’t do justice for the taste or the presentation. I met the Chef, Ben and Instantly knew that making food was his passion. You can taste the love in his food and desserts. Thank you Chef Ben for making our time in PA an unforgettable experience! You’ve got to try it!
Order a vegetarian quiche, waited 20 minutes and I got the worse quiche ever. I can’t even call this a quiche. This was our favorite stop but in the last 2 years the service and product quality has declined tremendously. I’m all about supporting local business but this is disrespecting customers.
They have a water dispenser by the coffee but refused to fill it up when politely asked. The girl behind the counter said it was because they “want to sell bottles of water.” Even though when I first came in there was still water in the dispenser. This is pretty horrible service for a restaurant. Every table was dirty when I entered even though the place was empty. I cleaned my own table and would have looked past this since they seem short staffed, but after the girl working there this morning refused to give us tap water, I think it’s worth noting.
Always amazing and polite! I got a fruit crepe for my dinner and a strawberry danish and they were so good I picked up some macarons to take back for our game night!
Good food overall but some absolutely terrible staff at the registers. 2 bros were having a tickle fight or high af, because they stood there giggling and staring at each other for a good amount of time before they even acknowledged us. Same goes with the person after us. I understand they're teens, and by nature teens are dopes, but if you're going to smoke up make sure you can cover your a#& at work. But yeah, food was good. Chicken sandwich was superb and the S'mores bar was delicious as well. The graham cracker crust was too sogged in butter and was more of a sand that fell apart from the bar but still got the job done.
Really mixed opinions on this place as it should be so much better. Breakfast pastries are excellent... particularly the apple streudle and berry Danish. Quiche was the saddest thing I've ever had... everything was scattered about the plate. Most disappointing is the staffing and vibe of the place... it's pretty depressing. Enormous space that is always lightly occupied. Extremely dark, quiet environment. Gross, malfunctioning bathrooms. Staff is inattentive, incompetent, and dopey. Corporate needs to do something about this location.
Hands down best French toast I have ever had! The bread is out of this world. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing and the staff is friendly. The pastry display is to die for!
