I live in Kingsley, and depending on service from BATA during the weekend days isn't available. I asked the dispatcher the last time I called, when is it advisable to call for a ride into Traverse City? She replied a week in advance is recommended, for outlying areas due to staffing shortages. In the past, I usually will call to flag a driver for pickup. Aside from the hiccups in lack of service, I've had very good drivers. Review on service overall, isn't great.
Drove by the building address 3 times and never stopped to pick me up. I had to call her and tell her I was at the building across the street where the bus dropped me off earlier for my doctors appointment. Wow! And she tried to blame me said that was the address she had to pick me up. And she kept calling me honey instead of my name. Really disrespectful and completely irresponsible. Your riders aren’t dumb. Don’t treat us that way!!!!
If I was as unreliable at my job, as the people who work for The Bus Company, there would have been consequences, and I would have been fired. Unreliable, confused, and totally dependent on their computers. Meanwhile, to be a taxi driver, in most major cities drivers have to take a road test demonstrating knowledge of the surrounding area. Certainly not to drive a bus in Traverse City. Subpar service
Great service all the way around. My elderly mother is in a wheelchair, so we used the bus to spend a day at the mall. Drivers were friendly and efficient.
I've used Bata many times and to be honest this is a good transportation service but it's pretty flawed. I've had a lot of weird experiences and almost all of them have been from bus drivers. One of my rides was just a short drive up the road, maybe 3 minutes away, instead she pulled into the urgent Care parking lot and waited there for her supervisor without really telling me what was going on. I was thinking we were there picking up another rider, it wasn't until about 10 minutes in that I started to ask questions.
I love using BATA. I call the day before to schedule my ride. They are usually on time and sometimes early. The drivers are all very friendly and helpful. I especially like the shopping bus that is offered on Tuesday and Thursday. BATA is a wonderful addition to Traverse City and surrounding areas.
Waited for my bus to arrive at the normal scheduled place and time and I was at the bus stop like I always am at 10 to 15 minutes before the scheduled time and the bus never came through my park when I called the bus center they said the bus was there at it's normal scheduled time which it was not so once again I'm going to an hour plus late for work normally I have decent service with the bus but this is the 2nd time this has happened
I depend on them for most of my transportation needs. I originally from Lansing, and CATA Capitol Area Transportation Authority has been rated the best public transportation service in the country several years. BATA is my second favorite. That say alot for a "small town" like Traverse City. ; ps. Soon, we will have high speed internet everywhere. This would be, of course, most valuable for persons in transit. Planes, Trains, and Buses BATA has started that process on SOME buses. I hope to see this trend continue.
Had a very pleasant & helpful lady pick my family up at the college to downtown. However the RUDE guy taking us back was a far cry from her. Not everyone is from TC so when we ask a simple question like does this bus take you back to the college a simple yes or no would be great.
Had a great conference with disability network and beta bus. So informative, and easy to understand for my nephew. Beta bus is going places! And not just in traverse city
