The Bates College Investment Club (BCIC) is an equity mutual fund that currently maintains +$125,000 in assets under management. The Club is supported by the Investment Committee of the Bates College Board of Trustees and advised by the Vice-President of Finance and Administration.
Welcome to the 2017-2018 / 2019-2020 academic year with the Bates College Investment Club (BCIC)! Similar to years previous, the club will be managing a fund in equity markets for the larger institutional endowment. Our work is important as nearly 5% of financial aid for undergraduates comes from the returns we generate.
The club was founded when John Gillespie '80 gave $100,000 in funds for a prospective student-run investment association. Over time, our impressive returns have had the Board of Trustees' Investment Committee's take over our funding and slowly increase it to the amount it is today.
In the club we learn how to value companies, manage portfolios, analyze securities, macroeconomic trends, and basic financial modeling.
