Not enough staff on a Monday. The staff cannot be bothered to assist customers. Poor customer service. Staff is doing something else while people are in queue instead of helping customers
UPDATE AUGUST 2023 I think I've written to the Post Office 10 times now. They keep backing and frothing between it being a WHS Smith problem and a Post Office problem. I got a response from the Post office who said that I need to be 'patient' as they're going through a tough recruitment process. It's been like this for the entirety of it being moved to this location. There's still only two chairs which I'm sure breaks disability law. Head office will not take action on this appallingly run branch until it receives more complaints, I think. My heart sinks every time I have to post internationally now as I know I will have to endure a 30 minute queue..... UPDATE MARCH 2023 Expect to wait at least 30 minutes now. I have now written to Post Office/WHSmith that they are actually discriminating against disabilities as they are expecting people to wait for up to an hour with just two chairs between customers. Quite often only two members of staff on, and situation made worse now all international parcels have to go through counters. Also, apparently all dogs not just assistance dogs are allowed in, which strikes me as quite strange having multiple dogs next to an area that has children's toys. Staff members who work all the time visibly tired and stressed, one member actually cried. On the plus side, if you complain to Post Office, they'll give you a £10 cash voucher instead of just hiring more staff. UPDATE FEB 2023 After what seemed like an improvement in service in autumn 2022, this post office has gone back down to appalling standards. Admittedly they did implement my feedback and put a chair in the queue, however there are still times when only one person is manning both the tile and self service with queues of well over twenty people. Probably the most poorly run Post Office in the country and apparently don't listen to the hundreds of people who have complained about it. UPDATE MARCH 2022: I am in an ongoing battle between Post Office and WH Smith to try and get a direct answer from them about what they are doing to make sure this service works efficiently. The escalator has now been broken all year, they have handwritten signed with gaffa tape stuck to the walls and litter everywhere. Nowhere for elderly or disabled to sit whilst they endure lengthly waiting times. PO blame WHM and vice versa. I'll keep you posted on my quest. UPDATE OCTOBER 2021: Still an awful situation. I keep writing in to Post Office HQ but they seem to not care. I was in this branch yesterday and no self service check outs were working and only 1-2 people on tills. About 50 people in queue. Really not good - needs a serious look at. Actually panic inducing during Covid-19 times. There are regularly 50 people queuing in store, no social distancing with two working self service and one person on the counter. The staff were begging for customers to complain to head office as they keep being told they're not allowed to hire more staff, and also that the Manager 'didn't see the need to have a queue manager on the front door to ensure Covid 19 safety'. Absolutely disgusting. Why the Post Office was even moved from its perfectly functioning location previous is beyond me. EMPLOY MORE STAFF AND ENSURE YOUR CUSTOMER'S SAFETY!!!!
Awful. Every time I go into this post office there is a queue that takes at least 30 mins. The staff are so unbothered and have absolutely no sense of urgency. They seem perfectly happy to watch elderly and disabled people not myself struggling to stand because it takes so long. Awful attitude from the staff as well - I get that you may not like your job but taking it out on the very patient customers is not acceptable. I dread having to go in here but always think next time it will be better - it never is. I’d be better off hand delivering my parcels next time with how long it takes to get anything done in this post office. I’d strongly advise everyone to go elsewhere and for a new post office manager in this place. It is not new information that this place is so bad.
Failed to notify online a change to opening hours, they closed earlier than what they usually do. Arrived at 5 thinking they are open till 5:30, which it says online, and was already closed with only a piece of paper they just put up on the desk, was totally inconsiderate and cruel. Due to this though I was able to find not only a more competent and trustworthy post office but it’s more local to me too. Terrible older lady who never is at the till leaving other nice lady to deal with everyone in line, ignorant and has no compassion, it’s always understaffed which doesn’t help the customers having to queue over half hour on good days, or the good employees for that matter. Will definitely never come again, but thank you for being so bad that I looked elsewhere and now have an excellent post office to go to from now on.
Would give zero stars if I could. A busy Saturday with woman serving who had zero personality. Huge queues. Completely unhelpful and some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced. When I asked for a bit of celotape to stick my envelope down I was told by the man in the travel money section to re-queue and ask his colleague when he had a roll of celotape in front of him! Absolutely shocking. More staff needed and those who are there would benefit from customer service training!
This is an appalling post office. Always a very long wait. Never enough staff. The ones there are look really depressed. Today there was an older couple buying a passport which must have taken about 20 minutes to half an hour as the man serving kept chatting. One other counter was open until at one point she went off leaving a really long queue. It's particularly ridiculous as it's the main post office in Bath!
The post office is inside a book store and there is only 1-2 persons working behind the counter. I only waited a few minutes but the queue became quite long soon after. You can buy shipping supply from the book store and international shipping can't be done with the machine. Typical post office experience. Staff was helpful but line could be very long.
Great Customer Service! Poppy was very helpful and friendly and also her colleague, but I don't know her name. The queue was long but the service was fast.
You would think this place could not get any worse, but it can! This afternoon there was only one person serving; two lads who were off to somewhere exotic. I was next in the queue. There was another employee floating around but she wasn’t where she was needed; behind the counter. Some ten minutes later there was one person serving the same two lads, I was still next in the queue but behind me the line was extending. Eventually a third person emerged and called me over. Whilst I was being attended to the woman behind the counter was merrily chatting to these two lads about where they were off to, oblivious to the frustrated line of people who must have now been waiting 15 minutes. This organisation does not deserve to exist.
Post office facility in W. H Smith is awful. Understaffed, no seats, long queues, slow service. The escalator makes a terrible loud creaking noise just to add to the ambiance. W.h.Smith is a dreadful, crowded, airless, joyless shop and I Am not surprised that the staff seem slightly cross and disinterested. Poor things.
