DO NOT TRUST THIS HOSPITAL WITH ANYONE WHO MATTERS TO YOU August 10 my 35yo sister is brought into the hospital with a stroke. They accused her of faking her symptoms and sent her home claiming it was a migraine. August 12 she is brought into another hospital 2hrs away & confirmed to have a stroke. Thanks to Bay Medical Center she missed the most essential window for recovery and now has permanent damage to the brain. They have since been refusing to give my sister access to her own patient portal records and she had to go through her primary doctor to even get a hospital summary.
It is my opinion that the lack care and compassion lead to the death of my mother. She went in the hospital with a fractured hip and within a month she died from sepsis due to an ulcer bed sore on her bottom side. I live out of town and was unable to be there all the time but the last time I saw her it was an unbearable sight to see. I do want to say at the end a surgeon did make an effort to save her by doing a debrisment but it was to little to late. I have reached out to risk management to make a formal complaint but they have yet to return my call. Again this is my personal belief from my experience with my mother.
My family received top notch service from the nurses in the ICU. They were so caring in every way. My mother was in their care with a terrible outlook and they allowed us to be with her right until the end. Thank you all for your service during my family’s difficult time.
The most horrible horrible hospital visit I've experienced. Nurse do not want to help they barely bring meds when they are supposed to. Asked for nausea meds and didn't get till five hours later and it was the first time the nurse came in the room. Four different surgeons refused to help me after they kept me there for two days for an emergency surgery that they never performed. They had attitudes and spoke to my wife and I like we were idiots. The surgeon didn't have enough class to let us know he wasn't going to do the surgery and made the nurse tell us she said we are discharging you. They are not doing your surgery now. Have a good day. Word for word that was exactly what she said to us. They are only there for their paychecks and nothing more. If you care about yourself or whoever may need a hospitals help you will NOT take them to Bay Medical in Panama City Florida!!
I want to thank the Doctors, Nurses, the inflight medical team & anyone else who was involved in saving my 14 year son. Spending his birthday in the Pediatric ICU is not where any of us expected to be this Halloween. My heart dropped when I was told he was on life support while I was making the 3+ hour drive from Apalachicola to Pensacola. By the time I arrived, he was awakeno tubes! & acting like his normal silly self! I will never be able to express the extent of my gratitude. I still have my baby boy thanks to all of you! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart
I don't typically leave reviews, but this time I had to. The EMT and ER experience I had last night was horrible. I had to call 911 for wife shortly after 9pm. She was semi unconscious, BP of 87/43, unable to move/speak, and cold/clammy. The EMT's were treating it as a drug overdose, even though I explained that a milder version of this had happened several times over the weekend. AND that she wasn't even on drugs! I arrive at the ER shortly behind the ambulance and the desk tells me the nurse will be right for me. 40 min later and no one came, so I went back to the desk. The nurse came out to get me and says "apparently they tried to call my radio twice to bring you back but I didn't have it." I get to the room and it's 2 hrs before a doctor comes in. He immediately starts questioning about drugs/alcohol with an attitude. They had drawn blood and were waiting on results. Her BP readings were still way below normal. Another 2 hrs and he comes in and says, "labs are normal except for Potassium" then walks out. An hour later, the nurse comes in to take her to CT. After she gets back, we wait 3 hrs before ANYONE stepped back in the room. The doctor comes in and says "CT is normal, it's got to be medication related" and walked out without saying another word. We assume she's being discharged. Waited over an HR and no one came to remove the IV. I'm an oral surgery assistant, so I removed it myself and we were preparing to leave. The nurse comes in and says he wants an EKG. We get that and another 30 min later a different nurse comes in saying we can go home and follow up with primary care. She had surgery at this hospital in January and we can't say enough good things about the doctors and nurses with that experience. But they seriously need to evaluate their ER dept. The doctor was rude and hateful and couldn't care less. The nursing staff sat at the desk cutting up and laughing all night. Absolutely ZERO compassion or bedside manner for the patients or family spending 7 hours there over night.
Worst hospital I’ve ever had to use. Daughter has been here 4 days and the doctor has yet to come in and see her. They tell us she has an infection and have done absolutely nothing but give her pain meds. I trying to have her transferred to Gulf but I am definitely consulting an attorney.
Very RUDE staff. Do not come back and check on you . When they do come in and tell you they will be back , they do not come back . Called out to nurse station to ask for pain meds they answer and then hang up without replying . Been waiting on pain meds that the NP said she was going to get over an hour ago . Staff is laughing having a good time at nurse station but claim too busy to move you forward in moving your ER process along . Thank goodness we arent local just on vacation .
My wife who is diagnosed with cancer or her oncologist at UAB have been denied access to biopsy and ct scan reports. They have even been so rude as to hang up on her when asking for direction as to how we should go about gaining access to the results. Her very much needed treatments have been postponed another week since the UAB tumor board were unable to review the case. If slow service, minimal care ,little to no assistance and poorly managed facilities is your thing, go to Bay Medical, if not, go anywhere else!!!
Wouldn't let me see my mother before she died. It's beyond disappointing to know that so many healthcare administrators/workers are just sheep minded drones. Honestly will never forgive the people responsible for repressing effective Covid treatments for the sake of mandates handed down from corrupt big med and pharma and further the ridiculous isolation of dying people from their family and loved ones. Better off treating yourself at home.
