Bayshore Park Community Garden and Oven is a non-profit organization focused on operating a community garden and community outdoor bake oven.
Bayshore Park Community Garden & Oven aims to:
• Contribute to food security by transforming a patch of Bayshore Park into a landscape for growing food and baking for the local community;
• Provide the local community with access to garden plots where they can grow healthy, organic produce for a minimal annual membership fee;
• Engage the volunteers to safely operate the outdoor bake oven with a view to provide the community with an opportunity to bake their food through a variety of wood-fired cooking techniques;
• Create a space for community members to learn and share gardening and baking activities and techniques;
• Provide space for children to participate in gardening activities so that they learn about edible plants, insects, and weeds, how they grow and their nutritional value;
• Facilitate teaching of ecologically responsible gardening practices, such as organic growing methods and water conservation;
• Build community ties by bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to volunteer and work together to build and tend the community garden, operate and use the community outdoor oven; and
• Support member-driven educational projects that are a benefit to the members and the local community.
Bayshore Park Community Garden and Oven is a non-profit community-based organization focused on operating a community garden and community outdoor bake oven open to all those who live in Bayshore, Accora Village and neighbouring areas. The purpose of Bayshore Park Community Garden and Oven is to promote, create, and maintain community gardening and bake oven activities in Bayshore Park and to encourage involvement in the betterment of the community while providing members with the nutritional benefits and joys of gardening and community bake oven use. We are committed to providing a space of learning and shared activities for individuals, families and the local community including a children’s plot, projects of an educational nature, a space to grow food based on organic gardening practices, and an outdoor wood-fired oven to bake and cook healthy, tasty and culturally diverse food.

"Community Garden is open for all residents of Bayshore for an annual fee $25. Write to us to register f0r the waiting list.Community Oven is open for all Ottawa residents. Regular Community Bakes are held every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 11 am to 1 pm between April to October. In addition, we also hold special events every year Youth Bakes and Pizza Palooza and accept bookings for private events. Write to us to join the oven operator team or make a booking for your own event."
