Opened on November 18, 2002, Prescription Assistance Network of Stark County, Inc. (PAN) – now known as Beacon Charitable Pharmacy – is a non-profit agency that was funded through initiative grants from the Austin Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation, the Sisters of Charity Foundation and the Health Foundation of Greater Massillon.
In December 2009, the organization opened the second Charitable Pharmacy in Ohio! Since opening, the Beacon Charitable Pharmacy has filled more than 160,000 prescriptions that have a value of more than $12,000,000.00.
Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) College of Pharmacy and Beacon collaborate to provide a pharmacy practice site. The students are learning and practicing pharmacy skills, gaining an understanding of indigent care while providing extensive education, Medication Therapy Management and pharmaceutical services to the clients. Beacon Charitable Pharmacy is a “pharmaceutical knowledge center.”
