My birds are kept in pens at night and in the morning, to keep them safe from the coyotes. Around lunch time they have full run of the farm until they put themselves to bed at dusk. I feed them layer pellets, scratch grain and corn. In the summer they seem to pluck my garden till there is nothing left. I don't seem to have any problems with bugs around my house though so that is good. They love Halloween or should I say the day after Halloween when they get to enjoy all of our jack-o-lanterns. In the wintertime when their isn't any bugs around I buy them fishing worms or freeze dried meal-worms. By the taste of the eggs you can tell that my chickens are happy.
We also have turkeys. Bourbon Reds to be exact. In the spring and summer we sell turkey eggs $4 dozen. We will be getting more turkeys in the spring.
Our sheep herd had grown also. We have 6 ewes. Two of which are milkers. They have not been breed as of yet. So no cheese this year.
I have added two mini donkeys as "guard dogs" for my little part of the farm. Love them.
