I went to this school as an incoming freshman knowing no one and had an awful experience. This school is extremely cliquey and the students in general are rude and don’t seem to have much respect for their peers. The staff is friendly but from what I noticed, play favorites. From my experience it seems to be a small community of kids who grew up knowing each other, all put in one small high school. I transferred to Nevada Union High School, which ended up being a much better and more welcoming school then Bear River ever was.
My Son went As a freshman through his senior year. The School is definitely a reflection of the great leadership of principle Amy Besler . She is a highly educated well organized deeply loving individual who has a real passion for Educational system. She’s a real leader in the field and I encourage anyone to take the time to meet because I sure you will agree with me.She’s dedicated to the young adults/ Students At the school..Its a wonderful school that provide a safe and educational experience for their students. I’m sure there’s not many schools in California and elsewhere that offer personal Leadership in education like Bear River.
My son attended his freshman year at Bear River, and then we had to move to Rocklin. We'd heard that Rocklin's high schools were top-notch, but we soon found out they couldn't hold a candle to Bear River. My son complains that the kids in his new school are far more disrespectful and entitled than his Bear River classmates were. Bear River was amazingly more progressive than his new high school; they issued my son a Chromebook that I didn't have to pay for until my son broke the screen. Principal Besler had recently been hired to the position, and she brought high energy, enthusiasm, and was excellent to communicate with parents regularly. When I had a complaint about a problem my son had had with the bus, she immediately responded directly to me and did her best to help me resolve it. In contrast, I've grown so frustrated with my son's new high school that I am pursuing home schooling instead. I see a number of students have posted negative reviews about Bear River. Decades ago I was a student there, so I can sympathize. Growing up in rural Grass Valley/Auburn can be kind of a drag sometimes, and high school can be a tough time no matter where you go. But as a parent, I am glad my son was able to go to school there for that year. My son was sort of ho-hum about Bear River before we moved, but now he wishes he could go back there.
A wonderful school with cooperative students, caring teachers, and a lot of events. Amazing sports facilities and a humongous arts center for plays and concerts. This school is a star academically and sportswise.
this school is the MOST JUDGMENTAL school in the world the TEACHERS HAVE FAVORITES the students make fun of you for expressing yourself . and what you where, if you don't have brand name clothes, if you dont have a fancy phone. this school should be SHUT DOWN FOR SURE !!!!!!!!! SHUT IT DOWNNN
Beautiful school. Proud to have gone there.
