Bear Root Apothecary (formerly Uptown Nutrition) is a Naturopath-owned store dedicated to guiding our customers toward vibrant health and well being via education, carefully sourced and trusted products and by providing a warm, nurturing space to shop and learn in. Not a happy puppie here - discussed medical coverage during my initial meeting - felt assured I was covered - no mention of how much the first and subsequent vists would cost I guess this is on me to be more persistant - in the end I felt that i was covered with my medicare and my supplemental insurance - turns out i was wrong - I was never advised to check this out first and how to go about doing this. During my initial session it was urged to get a "food sensitivity" test. Results came back, no wheat, no dairy... but also that I could actually eat shellfish, shrimp and the like - this was totally wrong - i am deathly allegic to shellfish - throat sweels up and I die without a traceotomy. So a month later I get the "bill" for the first session - total surpirse and very expernsive - and I still owe for the second second session. So I advise anyone going into this regimen - make sure you have a very pointed discussion about costs and the accuracy of any "testing". I tried to have a reasoned discussion about cost and efficacy. Nope - no give and take - just pay the bill. I did. But I do wish to report my obeservations to anyone interested in starting down this path.
I was so happy to find an alternative to Vaseline! I needed to use it but dreaded putting a petroleum product on myself. My dermatologist wasn't even aware that such a product exists. That is sad. One call to Bear Root and problem solved!
Uptown Nutrition is the place to go in Port Townsend for any supplement needs. I've been going there for several years and am happy I found it. This is also the best place to buy Thorne products. Suzy is very knowledgeable about all her products. You can count on professional help from her.
