HIV / AIDS Counseling & Testing:
--The Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department has been an AIDS Prevention Center since 1986. AIDS Prevention Centers provide HIV Counseling and Testing Services in a confidential setting at no charge. The test for HIV is a simple blood test. The results are normally back to the Health Department within two weeks.
Immunizations:
--The Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department administers childhood, adult & international travel vaccines.
--Children thru 18 yrs. of age that meet at least one of the following criteria are eligible for the Vaccines For Children Program:
•Children enrolled in Medicaid (M)
•Children who do not have insurance (NI)
•Children who are American Indian (NA) or Alaskan Native (AN) – as defined
by the Indian Health Services Act
•Children who have health insurance that does not cover vaccine (UNIN)
--These children can receive VFC vaccine at the Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department.
--All Immunization Services are provided weekdays (except holidays) from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For further information, please call (304) 252-8531, Ext. 0.
Communicable Disease Control Program:
--The communicable disease control program is designed for early detection of diseases that may spread to others. When a person is found to have a disease that can cause others to become ill, the Beckley-Raleigh Co. Health Department works to stop the spread of the disease. Other services include the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
--There are many types of communicable diseases; examples are salmonella, tuberculosis, West Nile virus, rabies, LaCrosse encephalitis, Influenza, etc. Communicable diseases are usually spread through food, water and air.
EPSDT (HEALTHCHECK):
--HealthCheck is the name of West Virginia’s Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment Program (EPSDT). All children, ages 0 to 21, which have an active Medicaid card, are eligible for HealthCheck services.
--HealthCheck provides periodic, comprehensive health examinations; vision, dental and hearing assessments; immunizations; and treatment/follow-up of conditions found through the health examination.
--Services are available weekdays, except holidays 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tuberculosis Control Program:
--Tuberculosis services provided include the following:
•PPD (tuberculin skin test)
•T-Spot testing
•Case investigation
•Contact investigation
•Data collection/reporting
•Case management
•Drug susceptibility testing
•DOPT (Directly Observed Preventive Therapy)
•DOT (Directly Observed Therapy)
•Treatment of both Active and Latent Tuberculosis Infection
•Tuberculosis treatment monitoring
•Tuberculosis screening
•Tuberculosis information to health care providers and general public
--X-Ray Clinic/Diagnostic Clinic Services are available by appointment for active disease and Latent Tuberculosis Infection clients.
