I can think of no more stirring symbol of man's humanity to man than a fire engine. ~Kurt Vonnegut
We are a Municipal Fire & Rescue service that covers the town of Belgrade located in Kennebec county Maine. Belgrade is located just a few miles northwest of Maine's capital city, Augusta. Belgrade covers about sixty (59.7) square miles, with a large part of this area composed of lakes and streams. Our current population is estimated to be about 4,000 year-round citizens, and that number nearly doubles when non-residents arrive to spend the summer months here. There is a 18-hole golf course, just south of the Belgrade Lakes Village. We currently operate four Fire Engine/Pumpers, two Tanker/Tenders, one all-terrain unit, one brush unit, one boat and one light-duty rescue out of three stations. We provide emergency medical services with a permit to the Paramedic level. We also maintain a Junior Firefighter / EMT program which is registered with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC). We respond to multiple emergencies throughout the year, and provide mutual aid to numerous neighboring towns.
The Belgrade Fire Department is committed to protecting the people, property, and environment of our region. We remain responsive to the needs of our citizens and visitors by providing rapid, professional services, with dignity, essential to health, safety and well being. We accomplish this mission through prevention, education, fire suppression, rescue, and hazardous materials response.
The Belgrade Fire Department will actively participate in our community and region, serve as role models, and strive to efficiently utilize all available resources to provide an excellent service to our residents.
