I was recommended Ashley for curly hair. I arrived at the salon right on time for my 11:00 appt., and because she was ‘running behind schedule’ was not seen until 11:45. I had to be out of the salon by 1:00 to be prepared for our babysitter and an event that evening, so her tardiness was my first red flag. Upon discussing my request, I informed her I wanted to let my layers grow out a little, and leave the length, but just take enough to clean up. [I thought that] she understood this and she started cutting. I trusted her so I didn’t think to hover over her and let her do her thing. She blow dried my hair and curled it for me for my event that evening. It was the worst blow dry job I’ve ever had; my hair was so frizzy that I ended up going over the top of it at home to eliminate as much frizz/fly-aways as I could. After washing my hair and styling it myself, I noticed my terrible cut. I contacted the salon, informed them and the owner Laurie returned my call. I asked what my options were and she said refund, or come to the salon for a haircut by her. Although I was leaning towards a refund, I asked if I could come into the salon for her to look at my haircut and discuss how she could fix my cut from there. She agreed and we set up an appt for the next day. This is the part where I am extremely dissatisfied with their service: She called me a few hours later to say “upon speaking with Ashley, she has decided to go ahead and give me a refund” I asked her, “out of curiosity, did Ashley remember me and know the haircut she gave me?” and Laurie’s response was “After speaking with Ashley I have full faith in my staff and her abilities, so I’m going to process a refund for you”. This tells me that she either: A. Did not want to be bothered with me as a customer coming in and/or hearing and seeing my situation and haircut, ultimately leading me to believe that Ashley may not have done a great job but she was taking her stylists side and could not allow the customer to be correct in the situation. Or B. She knew Ashley did a crappy job or Ashley admitted to her and she knew there was nothing she could do to fix my hair without cutting it even shorter. The layers Ashley gave me are not blended at all, they’re MUCH shorter than I would have ever wanted, and she did not frame it to my face at all. There is a huge gap where the layers are askew that makes my haircut appear that my bangs grew out. It is much more obvious when my hair is straight. I am so unsatisfied with my service at the salon that it has led me to document this in a review, in hopes that it sways other individuals with curly hair to seek a different stylist. The salon itself has a beautiful ambiance, and was welcoming, but the quality of service I received was not worth the price tag I paid for. I did receive my refund, minus tip, but still would like to share my experience with others.
I love this salon! I followed them from their previous location because no one cuts my hair like Alyssa!! Her color is amazing too! The reception area is welcoming, they have such cute stuff in their boutique, they're reasonably priced, the ambiance is very spa like/relaxing, and you wont be there ALL day to get your hair done. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Had my first haircut here and I will absolutely be going back. The staff was very warm and friendly despite it being an upscale salon - best of both worlds. The salon is neat and clean and Cheree did a fabulous job with my haircut. She didn't try to talk me into any trendy haircut and respected that I like simple and the cut is hands down the best haircut I've had. My favorite special little touch is the drink menu with Lavender Lemonade. Can't wait to check out the spa one day.
I had the Bella Bella Classic 90 min Facial as a special treat to myself. It was AMAZING! Not only was my face pampered but my feet, hands, legs, neck and shoulders were all treated with special care! Janet was my technician who I was told has been doing this for years and she was so professional, every thing she did was with purpose and would recommend her 100%. I think I am hooked. The only thing that I feel was missing and would push me to book this more expensive facial again is a steam room with yummy smells like lavender and sage to be able to use after the treatment. Otherwise their quite room I relaxed in for about 10 min before my treatment with a special complimentary drink in a comfy robe and slippers was nice.
Do yourself a favor and make an appointment for any service they offer, cause they are all amazing!! I was in desperate need of a haircut fix, one of the owners Christine hooked me up with my girl Samantha, that was 2 years ago and I won’t go anywhere else! She listened to exactly what I wanted and remembers every time. Everyone at the salon is always kind and greets you with a smile, it’s my little 2 hour getaway!
I always go here to get my hair cut or styled. It is super upscale but not with ridiculous prices. They make you feel like a star. I always have a Bellini when I'm there. I have been to several different hairstylists there and they were all very nice and good at their jobs. They advised me on how to care for my hair and what cut would look best for my face rather than just giving me any old style that was found in a magazine. I've tried their massage service once and it's very relaxing. I highly recommend Bella D'ora.
My husband and I had a couples massage here awhile back and omg it was amazing! We got our complimentary drink before our massage, got the tour, got to relax before going in, massages were very tailored and perfect and were not rushed out after. I don't remember the name of the girl who did my husband's but Jason did mine and he had a crazy pinch and shake technique for relieving knots and my back never felt better. I left feeling so much better than I went in. Highly recommend.
EVERY TIME I go to get my hair done I'm greeted with smiles in a warm professional manner. I look forward to spending time and talking with Kathy my hair dresser. She is fantastic and has great knowledge! Everyone that works there is amazing and the energy in the place is calm, professional, and welcoming.
This is such a fantastic salon and spa. Their service, products and atmosphere are all 5-star. Every time I go here I'm treated as a welcome guest. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. I also love the vibe of the place -- hip yet warming and inviting. They remember my favorite beverage, go the extra mile to please me ... Honestly I could go on and on. Hands down the best salon and spa in Carlsbad. Their facials leave my skin glowing, their massages got me floating on cloud 9. My hair always turns out amazing. Trust me, this place is quality. Go here!
I have been to most of the best spas in San Diego and found Bella D’Ora equally enjoyable. It was all candlelit, had a lovely quiet room and well-equipped changing room, and cozy robes. The October special 60 minute facial, 60 minute massage, lunch, and champagne was an amazing deal. We opted to eat lunch on a balcony overlooking the flower fields admittedly, out of season and there was traffic noise, but the lunch was delicious. Jenna, who did my facial, was really nice and did an awesome job. She did not try to sell me products the whole time and was sympathetic about over-40 skin. I was so relaxed after the facial, I couldn’t believe I still had an hour-long massage ahead of me. It was equally delightful. Every other staff member I interacted with also was kind and helpful. I don’t splurge on spa days often, but I will return to this place! With the mall and flower fields across the street, it’s perfectly situated for a great ladies day.
