I've been meaning to make a review for Ben Thanh since I've been coming here before the pandemic. This was my first visit since. I came here for lunch and ordered a few items. Chicken pineapple fried rice, beef/vegetable, chicken, and 2 soups with beef/chicken skewers. The only issue was the chicken fried rice had no flavor, the pineapples weren't juicy and the rice/chicken wasn't seasoned. Otherwise everything tasted fantastic! The chicken with fish sauce was flavorful, the beef with vegetables had a great sauce, and the soup broth was bursting with flavor. Skewers were cooked well and seasoned. I also didn't feel sick/that gut feeling from eating a lot of grease, very fresh food. Service was kind and professional. They offered me a lot of support with the menu and helped me select some good items. Very tentative to my needs. I ended my visit with a super flavorful bubble tea! Can't go wrong with one of those. My whole experience, I give it a 4/5. Unfortunately I remember a lot of these dishes being much more flavorful and my pineapple rice was lacking seasoning but I would still be back! Thanks Ben Thanh!
Overall good experience. I'll start with the minor gripes though. It could be a little more refined and this place would be tops as the food that we had was very delicious and service was quick. So to start, the long bench had damage to the seat which cheapens the experience. Overall, servers are nice but don't seem very experienced in hospitality but they def get the job done. We booked a large table and when we got there no place settings were set. We were given a big plate of chopsticks and cutlery with napkins that we had to distribute to our group of 12. Not impressed but not that uncommon for a Viet restaurant. However, compare this to the location we went to visiting St Jacob's, they had all the settings done and water for each person set by the time our group showed up. That was impressive. Next, the lady that looked like the manager/owner seemed a bit dressed down. For the decor I think it would be far better for the entire outlook of the location if ALL staff were dressed the part. I mean one thing if you're staying behind the counter and kitchen, entirely a different story to be walking the floor often. I mean she was very helpful, not the warmest personality but still helpful and let's say attractive which makes it all the more a loss in potential for the overall look and feel of the place. No one offered to refill our drinks, water and tea which there is a charge for the tea so you're not surprised and some places do but no doubt if we asked they would have been quick to refill. Washroom counter was soaked. The water pressure is far too high. Do not lean on the counter. Rest of washroom seemed clean though but obvious not maintained often. So the good: -Friendly servers and though not preemptive in service they were friendly, hekpful and quick especially the young man. -The food was excellent in quality and taste and it came out very quickly. This was Canada Day at lunch and it was at least 25% full which we were surprised. In Toronto this place would be full all the time I would think. My family had seafood curry with rice, chicken chow mein but with Ramen noodle which was actually much better than regular Ramen instant noodle and I had the Korean Japchae with chicken rounding our dishes off with a chicken udon noodle soup for my kid. Everyone was very happy and satisfied with leftovers to take home for the fried noodle dishes -Menu options, we love the different types of dishes they offer. Something for almost every Asian food craving except Japanaese. Btw the fried noodles are a good size but the chicken chow mein I saw was a small mountain! Lol Would I come again and recommend? Most definitely. It's an easy, casual atmosphere with a big menu and the three times we have been to a Ben Thanh we had a great time including this one. From kids to grandparents we enjoyed the food and speedy service. Just a little tweak on a few minor things and this would be a 5 stars all around location. We were so excited to eat we forgot to take photos. Sorry. Here's one of my last visit at a different location but it looked and tasted exactly the same. Consistency! A+++
I’ve been going to B+T for about 20 years now. First, the one in Hamilton beside the grocery store. That location had a cafeteria vibe to it. And then they expanded with other locations. I usually go to the Burlington location but have been visiting this one since January 2023. Service from the staff is consistent at all locations. Always polite. Always quick. I’m seated quickly. I order quickly. They serve it quickly. And because I’m an eat and run person, they have the bill processed quickly too. That’s great service! Pictured is the 213. Lemongrass chicken and BBQ’d pork chop with rice, salad greens, daikon and fish sauce. It’s $13.95 and I really don’t think you can get a better value. I’d also recommend the 299 or 303. Of all the different Asian cuisines, Vietnamese is my favourite.
July 30th 2023 @ 1230pm... We have waited for almost 30 minutes and no one has showed up to take our order. Looks like understaffed or poor management. Instead of wasting more time. We left to try Mandarin restaurant and it was the right decision
My son and I had lunch at Ben Thanh.... The soups were delicious and the service very good. This is our go to place for Pho soup . Vegetarian options: I substituted for glass noodles Instead of rice noodles and you can opt to have the soup without beef.
Stumbled upon this restaurant during my visit in Guelph. Food was a bit expensive compared to that of Toronto yet flavor was a bit bland. Service was mediocre at best. The staff wasn't too friendly either. Will not return upon my next visit to Guelph. The best thing will be the ambience and it's decor. Absolutely gorgeous!Food: 2/5
Pretty decent restaurant for a lunch with friends or colleagues. Had lunch here with 4 colleagues recently. The ambience is good, with ample sitting space and parking.Food was great and freshly made. The ginger chicken was alitle salty, be sure to ask for less salt :, the shrimp was delicious. One thing I would have loved,is our orders showing up at the same time. The 5 meals were brought at different times , leaving some of us watching on while others ate away. Spent approximately $140 on lunch for 5. Staff was friendly. I would totally recommend. Happy dinning.
First time at Ben Thanh restaurant. We came here as my wife's recommendation... what a great idea it was. We ordered for takeout. We were able to order ahead. The lady on the phone was very helpful while ordering and even gave us some suggestions. She was very polite and professional. The food was amazingly delicious. I can imagine that if it was this good for takeout,l... how awesome and delightful it would be to dine-in. I will definitely come again and will want to enjoy the dine-in experience. Ordered spring roll but it was terrible! Burnt taste and super greasyFood: 1/5
We went to this restaurant before going to our escape room just down the road. Dinner service was great, the server was very patient with some people that had some allergies and trying to help. maybe pick a better menu item for them. The food was great and was at a very decent price. I paid $15 for my entree! Wheelchair accessibility: the entire restaurant is at ground level and lots of big tables that would make using a wheelchair easy in this restaurant. Dietary restrictions: They do not really have a lot of dietary restriction flexibility. For example, if you're lactose intolerant, a lot of things are made with condensed milk and there really is no other substitution.
