They did a great job. Chris, the plumber, who did our work was great. He was professional, polite, knowledgeable, and did a great job. Also, I was under a time crunch and he had no problem going super fast to finish early for me: I don't know how the pricing compares, but they were clear about the costs with no surprises. 2 year warranty:
Complete rip off. The water heater conked out on a week end costing $900.00. What could I do after back surgery. Fast forward to 2020, at the 5 year mark, they sent out a guy to do a sediment flush. The tech said the pressure/temp relief valve needed to be replaced. It would cost $189... The water heater was covered for 6 years, "Parts and Labor" I was told that that part was not covered since as the manager said "was made to fail" and therefore was a wear and tear item, not covered by the warrantee. $189.00 for a part that costs anywhere from $10 to $30. No wonder these crooks have a 1.5 star rating, over priced by 10,000 miles and dishonest to boot. Go somewhere else!!!!
Worst service ever! Had to have a "free check up" on our water heater to keep the warranty in place. First they gave us a three hour window...they call at the very end of that window & send the guy over 1/2 hr after that. This guy spends an hour and a half checking our plumbing and writing down every thing that needs to be done. Our water heater has no sedimentation and looks "pretty good" BUT it is getting close to the end of warranty and he suggests that it be replaced before it "becomes a problem" we by some crud for a slow sink and the guy is on his way. My husband gets up the next morning to take a shower and its lukewarm, I get in later in the afternoon and the water is freezing cold...this is a problem for me. I just had a hip replacement a week ago and the cold water made my muscles spasm causing undue pain. My husband calls and the guy tells him "oh ya, you have to let the water run for an hour before it warms up!" Ludicrous! They are supposed to have a technician out to "see what the problem is" again here it is almost at the end of their 3 hr window and still nothing. I sure as hell hope they don't try to charge us! I think the BBB needs knowledge of this!
I had a leak in my basement ceiling coming from an upstairs shower. Benjamin Franklin charged me $50 service fee to come look at the problem and give me a price quote, not to fix anything. When they arrived the plumber told me they could't isolate what the problem was without cutting a hole in the drywall. I was expecting that, what I didn't figure was a charge of $166 just to cut a hole. I asked him what he thought the issue was and he said he wouldn't be able to tell me before cutting but I was probably looking at a $300+ fix. He kept his "analysis" intentionally vague and didn't explain anything. He circumvented all my questions with "I don't know until I get in there" but told me it looked like I had a "big problem" and wanted to get it fixed for me right away. I told him I wasn't comfortable making that decision or cutting holes in the walls until I talked it over with my brother, who is a master plumber. He got defensive and said I shouldn't let this problem go on and I assured him when I felt comfortable with the price I would call him back. He seemed frustrated that I made him leave and told me to call them back ASAP to get the problem fixed before any permanent damage occutred. I ended up only paying the $50 service fee, and I'm very glad I did. A week later I hired APR Plumbing and Heating who came to my house for FREE to look at the issue, didn't charge me to cut the holes in the walls, explained every step of the process and fixed the entire thing for $170 which was what Ben Franklin wanted to charge me to cut square foot hole in my drywall. Ben Franklin is extremely and intentionally overpriced. They are scam artists. I'm a woman, I'm a first time home owner, and I don't have a husband. I think their business succeeds on fear tactics targeted at uninformed and uneducated home owners like myself who don't know how much repairs should cost.
I called for a leak and they told me it's the wax ring from what he can see.. after spending 30 seconds looking. He poked his head in my ceiling and had me flush the toilet and that was it. He quoted me $330 to REMOVE THE TOILET.. before any work. I'm sorry... but that's awful. I called royalty rooter and they'll do the job with removing the toilet and parts for under 75. This was my first AND LAST time calling this company.
Saturday 4 days before Christmas found a fountain in my front yard called BF to see if they could help me they were super nice and accommodating until they weren't made me wait 45 minutes just to tell me that the dispatch person made a mistake and they couldn't come out. Truth is they didn't want to be bothered. Called another service no I won't mention in this post so that they don't think I'm endorsing another company they helped me right away, walk me through my problem got it fixed in no time... BF is truly a subpar company ...
