Benton Township is one of sixteen townships in Elkhart County, Indiana. As of 2009, the population is appoximately 3, 191. The township covers an area of 35.9 square miles; 0.05 square miles of this is water.
Benton Township Fire Department is a non-profit volunteer fire department that has approximatley thirty active volunteers. Jason Dunlap is Fire Chief with Clayton Erb as his Assistant Chief. The department currently has seven trucks; Engine 1, Engine 31, Rescue 2, Rescue 4, Tanker 3, Tanker 6, and Squad 5. The fire department responds to all medical and fire related 911 calls in Benton Township and provides mutual aid when needed to other townships.
