Their is absolutely nothing “great” or “GOOD” about this school or it’s administration as a whole. At first glimpse, I thought how odd is it that a school sits besides a main road where yearly children and adults alike have been savagely ran over or in traumatic accidents. My husband attempted to reassure as he was also a student here, he did however mention the lack of unity and school lunches tasting a-lot like something out of prison. Well, 6 months later into our daughter going to this hell hole, nothing much has changed. She’s only in kindergarten but by the way I see them treat our daughter and kindergarteners you’d think they’re in college. Recently, the principal and administration brought it upon themselves to “save” the community by placing our 5 year olds out into the field nearby the streets instead of properly having them meet there teachers in the gym due to “school shootings”. Therefore in 30 degree weather our children were forced to line-up and stand to wait for their teachers for nearly 15-20 minutes because in the principals words, “The Children needs to woken up to the reality of first grade”. To top it off, within the same day the children were forced to do recess outside in the same 30-40 degree weather. We wouldn’t have relocated back here from Florida to this kind of poor school conditions if we knew our child’s lunch came out of cans, or whenever our child is being bullied it goes unnoticed or whenever children are being “disciplined” by hall monitors, it’s shouting and screaming like they’re adults. Since being here I’ve had to watch our happy-go-lucky daughter turn into a sad child that lacks interest in school. NO CHILD should have to be treated without compassion and understanding. If you’re okay with your child going to Fort Knox or rikers island and losing out on there whole childhood, I recommend this place of choice. To note: the review by susie below is dismissive and ignorant as her generation in school was nearly 6 decades ago during a time that separation and segregation was “America being great”.
This school is by far the worst school I could have ever allowed my children to attend. The only good thing about this school is the office secretary. It is nearly impossible to have a meeting with the principal. The children are not the priority. The teachers are not friendly, the discipline in the school is sub-par. Children are constantly bullied and not much is done about it. The education of the child should come first and foremost but at this school it is last. I am actively seeking for a better establishment for my boy's to attend next year. I will be thrilled when we no longer will be apart of the Berkeley school administration.
Any parents nightmare when thinking of a public school system, just don’t do it. You’re better off figuring out home-schooling.
Currently have 2 children attending. One in Kindergarten and the other is in Second Grade. Teachers & Staff have all been nothing but amazing.
The most awful schools you would ever let your kids go to the the principal is the worst person you will ever meet so don't send any child to this school!
I went to school there from 1953 to1957. I had wonderful teachers and wonderful memories. The principal was Mr. Walker, in kindergarten I had Miss Moore, Mrs.Mc Cormack, in first gradebrought every student a seashell from her vacation in Florida as well as a coconut which the whole class shared!,Miss Nucci in second grade, Mrs.Donnelly in third and Mrs Peterson in fourth. I remember every morning starting our day with a verse from the Holy Bible read by a student reciting the Lord's Prayer, saying the Pledge off Allegiance, and singing the National Anthem.Oh how I wish those things would be brought back to the classroom today! I loved going to school there.
This school is the WORST the staff only thinks about them self.My child threw up because of the food and the throw up looked like the food. You better think about home schooling your child. Most kids there are super scared of there home room teachers and staff.Once my child had to wait 50 mins until they teacher came it was winter and super cold
Gods school but not the great
I go there rite now in fifth trade
